The Principal Hardware Engineer will lead the design of hardware systems for a satellite communications platform, focusing on power distribution, signal integrity, and PCB design, while ensuring high-reliability and fault tolerance in space environments.

Lead design, implementation, and testing of advanced navigation and estimation algorithms (primarily Kalman filters) for INS/GPS. Model and simulate inertial sensors, integrate navigation components into GNC/avionics, validate performance in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop, analyze and calibrate IMUs, troubleshoot test issues, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally.

Develop and maintain company-wide eCAD PCB component libraries and common circuit block layouts. Produce Altium-based PCB layouts and fabrication outputs, ensure IPC Class 3 manufacturing practices, support PCB/PCBA design reviews, resolve layout issues, define process improvements, and mentor junior layout staff while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams for aerospace-grade, high-speed/high-power designs.

Design and layout high-reliability avionics PCBs using Altium; develop and maintain eCAD component libraries; enforce IPC/DFM standards; perform SI/thermal/power delivery design and reviews; mentor junior layout resources and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturable designs.

Design, lead, and own analog, digital, and mixed-signal avionics circuit boards through full product lifecycle. Perform architecture trade studies, simulation, part selection, layout, prototyping, verification and qualification testing. Support FMECA/WCCA, DFx, root-cause analysis, mission assurance, and safety initiatives while communicating status and risks to management. Travel ~10%.
