As a Backend Engineer, you will develop and scale PostHog's billing system to support growth, implement flexible billing models, and ensure accurate financial reporting. You'll focus on automating processes and handling complex data modeling.

Focus on accounts in the $500–$1,667 MRR band, intervene on declining usage, and hand off accounts that qualify for high-touch TAMs.

Design and maintain knowledge bases and context pipelines, build and ship LLM-powered agents and AI tools, create developer-facing technical content (docs, example apps, videos), and operate docs-as-code systems to keep docs and agents in sync with product changes.

Design and build PostHog's observability stack (logs, traces, metrics) to ingest, store, and retrieve petabyte-scale telemetry reliably and cost-effectively. Own product area end-to-end from alpha to GA, make architecture decisions, implement high-throughput distributed systems, and optimize query/storage performance while ensuring data integrity in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
