Supports the design, analysis, and testing of combustion devices and related structures and components. The intern collaborates with mentors and engineering teams, applies engineering concepts to real aerospace challenges, performs data processing and testing, and gains experience with GD&T drafting. The role is full-time and on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027.

Supports the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of Hardware-in-the-Loop systems and automation tools. Design and develop lightweight spacecraft systems, mechanisms, and bus configurations. Own component designs from concept through production, perform hand calculations and FEA, create CAD and production drawings, lead design/manufacturing/test reviews, support proposals, and manage schedules, vendors, budgets, and test/operation procedures.

Operate and maintain spacecraft fleets across commissioning, orbit raising, routine operations, and re-entry. Develop and test ground software, flight sequences, telemetry and fault-management configurations, automated scripts, and operational code. Validate spacecraft requirements, simulations, and integrated tests; create mission documentation and interface specifications; support AIT activities; and collaborate with spacecraft design, flight software, propulsion, GNC, and international engineering teams. The role includes on-call or shift coverage and requires understanding of spacecraft subsystems, orbital mechanics, and software development.

Leads global supplier management for Rocket Lab Robotics programs, overseeing sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, purchase order schedules, delivery commitments, negotiations, contractual flow-downs, scorecards, risk mitigation, and cost reduction. Coordinates with engineering, quality, production planning, programs, finance, legal, and contracts to ensure material readiness, supplier performance, schedule reliability, and successful production execution.

Leads mechanical spacecraft and satellite system formulation for new business opportunities and missions. Responsibilities include developing bus configurations, structures, mechanisms, technical budgets, requirements, verification methods, analyses, test plans, CAD definitions, production drawings, interface specifications, and operational procedures. Owns mechanical technical development from concept through production, testing, and operation while supporting program management, vendors, schedules, budgets, and customer-facing documentation.

Lead global sourcing strategies and supplier relationships for rocket and satellite programs. Manage negotiations, contracts, supplier performance, cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supply chain resilience from prototyping through production. Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, legal, and contracts teams to ensure supplier capabilities meet program requirements and delivery, quality, and cost objectives.

Leads mechanical systems engineering for satellite and spacecraft design, including bus configurations, structures, mechanisms, mass budgets, requirements, CAD, FEA, verification, testing, and production support. Owns mechanical technical development from concept through operations, develops interfaces and design documentation, and supports business development, program management, schedules, vendors, and budgets for civil, commercial, and national security missions.

Lead and execute spacecraft integration and test campaigns: define requirements and V&V plans, develop acceptance/qualification/R&D test plans, operate environmental test systems, maintain GSE, interface with test and flight software, investigate anomalies, and work with hardware-in-the-loop systems to validate spacecraft subsystems.
