Santa Monica's Timeline Labs acquired for $22M

 
Santa Monica-based Timeline Labs, a social content curation company, has been acquired by Acron, Mass.-based SeaChange International for $22 million. Timeline's content management platform allows media organizations and brands to discover and curate social news relevant to an audience based on popularity and trends. The SeaChange acquisition will help the software platform bolster its services to include multiscreen TV service providers. Social Reality buys another ad firm, this time locally based

Other acquisitions are happening locally as advertising firm Social Reality acquires Santa Monica-based Five Delta. No terms of the deal were disclosed, but this is Social Reality's second acquisition after Steel Media and a big $25M funding round just last month. Social Reality said it will use Five Delta’s patent-pending tech to further optimize its automated digital advertising platform for social and real-time bidding, or RTB, campaigns. [Social Reality Buys First Delta: LA Business Journal]

SideChef raises $1M seed round to teach people to cook

Santa Monica-based SideChef Inc. has raised a $1 million seed round from China's Empower and Hong Kong-based Peacock Capital. The cooking app aims to make food more approachable by teaching people to cook with step-by-steps instructions aided by photos and video. All Day gains $2M

LA's All Day Media has raised another $2 million in funding. Investment comes from Upfront Ventures, 500 Startups and Daher Capital for the unique publishing technology with a strong emphasis on analytics and virality.
