Ask any tech company what they’re working on and chances are you’ll hear about a project that is currently in the works, not one that’s just launched. There’s a simple reason for this: tech moves fast. Companies that aren’t focused on fine-tuning processes, developing new products and doing more with data risk getting left behind. We recently caught up with two local companies that found success by keeping an eye toward the future to learn more about how their tech has evolved over time.

Advertise Purple Los Angeles tech jobs

Affiliate marketing is a crowded industry. How crowded, you ask? Affiliate management agency Advertise Purple estimates that there are over 360,000 affiliates out there competing for campaign dollars. Senior Analyst Trinity Novak shared how the company’s focus on tech and data helps it cut through the chaos and deliver value for clients.

How has your technology evolved since the early days of Advertise Purple?

Since the analyst department launched, the goal has been to advance our technology. We incorporate technology, automation and data visualization to help our decision-making throughout the affiliate management process. We have access to so much valuable data, and leveraging it broadens the data pool and allows us to find meaningful trends and patterns on both the individual program and global scale.

What will the next evolution of your tech look like? Are there any new technologies youre eyeing for the future?

Our goal is to incorporate machine learning to help refine processes and ultimately provide a robust data-driven approach toward affiliate management. The intent is to base our decisions on previous results and past findings so that we can further refine our optimization strategy for present and future clients.

Versus Systems Los Angeles tech jobs

The gaming industry has changed incredibly since Versus Systems launched in 2014. Back then, parents weren’t hiring Fortnite tutors for their kids, people weren’t catching virtual Pokemon in real parks and nobody was taking their “home” gaming console onto the bus (shoutout Nintendo Switch). CTO Alex Peachey shared how Versus Systems has evolved its tech to keep up with all these sea changes and provided a sneak peek at what the future holds for the company.

How has your technology evolved since the early days of Versus Systems?

The stack at Versus Systems has changed quite a lot since the early days. Originally, it was built with a Ruby on Rails server and had a one-off integration into our first game using native iOS and Android. We now are fully Elixir on the server, have a rich set of administration tools built in React and have fully developed software development kits in Mobile Unity, Swift, Kotlin, C# and C++.

We are very happy with Elixir, both for happiness of code as well as the extreme performance. The future is likely to include adding in additional Elixir or Erlang technologies that enhance the product further as well as expanding our SDKs to reach more platforms and become even easier to integrate. As our user population grows we also fully expect to branch out into deep data analysis and machine learning.
