Shopify is LA’s latest transplant.

The e-commerce software provider announced Thursday that it has opened a brick-and-mortar location in downtown LA. The new storefront will serve as a resource for merchants and entrepreneurs looking to tap Shopify's expertise through retail consultation, educational classes and other services.

We know that entrepreneurship can be lonely, isolating and hard so we wanted to create a hub where business owners can gather to find support, inspiration and community.”

“We believe this will empower merchants to make the most of our products for selling through any channel, including their online and retail stores, social media and e-commerce marketplaces,” Shopify VP of Product Satish Kanwar said in an emailed statement to Built In LA. “We know that entrepreneurship can be lonely, isolating and hard so we wanted to create a hub where business owners can gather to find support, inspiration and community.”

Entrepreneurs who make a sojourn to Shopify’s new physical space should expect to build their business acumen in an inspiring, supportive environment of experts and peers alike.

“After five years of investing in real life programmings such as Unite, Retail Tour and ShopClass, we know that face-to-face help makes a huge difference for our partners’ and merchants’ businesses. Guests can book 1:1 hourly appointments, onsite retail consults, attend problem-solving workshops, see new product demos, and take advantage of partner meet-ups, mentorship sessions, and other inspirational events with special guests. Programming is designed to launch new partners and merchants and grow tenured partner and merchant businesses,” said Kanwar.

The company has set up shop in trendy ROW DTLA, marking the first time Shopify has opened a physical location.

“We chose LA because the area is home to one of our densest populations of Shopify merchants who can benefit from the services and community the space will provide,” said Kanwar.

Shopify’s platform allows users to manage their stores, including establishing an online brand, tracking inventory and more. The company currently powers more than 600,000 businesses in 175 countries, Shopify said in a statement.
