About Us

Fieldguide is establishing a new state of trust for global commerce and capital markets through automating and streamlining the work of assurance and audit practitioners specifically within cybersecurity, privacy, and financial audit. Put simply, we build software for the people who enable trust between businesses.

We’re based in San Francisco, CA, but built as a remote-first company that enables you to do your best work from anywhere. We're backed by top investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, 8VC, Floodgate, Y Combinator, DNX Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Justin Kan, Elad Gil, and more.

We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences. We need people from all backgrounds and walks of life to help build the future of audit and advisory. Fieldguide’s team is inclusive, driven, humble and supportive. We are deliberate and self-reflective about the kind of team and culture that we are building, seeking teammates that are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting each other's growth.

As an early stage start-up employee, you’ll have the opportunity to build out the future of business trust. We make audit practitioners’ lives easier by eliminating up to 50% of their work and giving them better work-life balance. If you share our values and enthusiasm for building a great culture and product, you will find a home at Fieldguide.

About the Role

As a Technical Sourcer at Fieldguide, you’ll be a key driver of our ability to hire world-class technical talent. Reporting to the Manager of Recruiting, you’ll focus on building pipelines for core engineering roles and specialized AI/ML talent, while also tackling niche and hard-to-fill searches. This is a hands-on and strategic role: you’ll source and screen candidates while building the foundational sourcing strategies, tools, and processes that set a high bar for technical hiring at Fieldguide. You’ll partner closely with recruiters, hiring managers, and engineering leadership to identify, engage, and convert exceptional candidates who will help build the next generation of software that powers trust and efficiency for audit and advisory firms.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and execute creative sourcing strategies to identify engineers at all levels across software, AI/ML, and infrastructure.

  • Source beyond LinkedIn, leveraging open-source communities, social media, academic publications, and in-person events.

  • Map talent markets to identify emerging and hard-to-reach candidates in highly competitive geographies.

  • Generate and maintain diverse, high-quality pipelines for both evergreen and niche technical roles.

  • Craft personalized outreach that resonates with highly technical and often passive candidates.

  • Conduct initial conversations to qualify candidates on technical alignment and interest.

  • Partner with recruiters and hiring managers to calibrate searches and refine role requirements.

  • Track sourcing metrics and pipeline health to drive data-informed decisions and improve funnel conversion.

Who You Are

  • 3–5 years of technical sourcing experience with a strong track record sourcing passive talent for engineering and AI/ML-focused roles.

  • Proven success filling hard-to-find technical positions, including generative AI and other specialized areas.

  • Strong technical fluency; comfortable discussing concepts like generative AI, LLMs, RAG, ML infrastructure, and modern software engineering principles.

  • Skilled in sourcing strategies and tools, including Boolean search, talent mapping, LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, and Ashby.

  • Deep knowledge of the Silicon Valley technical talent market, with experience navigating competitive hubs like SF, Seattle, and NYC.

  • Hold a high bar for candidate quality and sourcing rigor, balancing speed with precision.

  • Curious about AI as a field and adept at applying AI-driven tools to make sourcing more efficient and effective.

  • Excellent communicator; able to craft personalized outreach that builds trust, champions Fieldguide’s brand, and converts passive top talent.

  • Self-motivated builder who creates repeatable systems and scalable sourcing processes in fast-paced environments.

  • Bonus points if you’re based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
