This position involves both litigation and transactional support. The Legal Specialist will be responsible for assisting attorneys with a wide range of corporate matters, primarily insurance claims management for workers’ compensation, general liability, and employment practices liability. Moreover, the Legal Specialist will periodically assist with the preparation and production of franchise-related legal documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely reporting and claims management for workers' compensation, general liability, and employment practices liability
  • Manage new claim intake/submissions for multiple regional locations
  • Assist with investigations and preparation of material for use in legal and insurance proceedings
  • Work with insurance adjusters and third-party administrators to effectively manage and close claims
  • Prepare Loss Runs for management review
  • Assist attorneys with due diligence process associated with review of transactions
  • Provide lawyers with assistance in the preparation for and closing of various franchise-related transactions
  • Assist practice area with reporting, tracking and data management

Skills & Requirements:

  • Proficient in technology platforms, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as data management tools and platforms
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and administrative skills
  • Flexible and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to work independently, and follow through to completion projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Excellent communication (speaking, writing, and listening) skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior experience as a paralegal or in a legal setting is a plus
  • Target base salary 65k-75k depending on experience
