Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range$81,500.00 - $134,500.00

What Is the Opportunity?
This position is responsible for representing the interests of the clients in the litigation of disputed Workers Compensation claims. Provides client services as part of a legal team. Independently provides aggressive case handling with a resolution focus. Remains current on related legal and regulatory governances and changes.What Will You Do?
  • Independently handles a full to moderate caseload with low to moderate level of severity and complexity from case inception through trial/resolution with limited support.
  • Handles hearings, court events, and other appointments independently as jurisdictionally appropriate.
  • Conducts legal research as necessary.
  • Independently drafts pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other file documents.
  • Interprets and analyzes medical reports or bills/invoices and provides disability ratings and/or other Official Medical Fee Schedules where jurisdictionally applicable.
  • Provides recommendations and case analysis to business partners and clients on appropriate file handling strategy.
  • Builds and maintains superior internal and external client relationships.
  • Completes all required administrative tasks including time reporting, closed cases, and other reports appropriate to performance of job duties.
  • Effectively utilizes and adapts to available technology, case management system and automation in the practice of law.
  • Meets annual billable hour expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor’s Degree or law degree.
  • 7+ years of workers compensation claim or legal experience
  • 5+ years hearing rep experience with strong litigation focus
  • Strong understanding of jurisdiction’s Workers Compensation law and litigation procedures.
  • High proficiency in using legal research software (e.g Westlaw, Pacer) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong and persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong evaluation and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to analyze legal issues with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly articulate position.
  • Ability to effectively understand, utilize, and adapt to technology, case management system, and automation resources.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the various jurisdictional rules for Workers Compensation law and litigation procedures.
  • Demonstrates creative problem solving and analytical skills.
What is a Must Have?
  • 5 years of workers compensation claim or legal experience; or 2 years Hearing Representative experience with strong litigation focus; or Juris Doctorate.
