Overview

USC Communications is seeking a Graphic Designer to join its team. The Communications team sets the strategic communications vision and marketing strategies that promote the campus community’s innovative accomplishments, builds a strong brand identity and nurtures the University’s reputation among its vast constituencies.
Reporting to the Art Director, the Graphic Designer will produce print and digital creative solutions to support the marketing and communications efforts of University Advancement and the USC Alumni Association.
The ideal candidate is a creative and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in graphic design. They should have three years of experience in producing print and digital materials.
Job Responsibilities:

Creates and executes concepts for print and digital collateral including, but not limited to, leadership gift proposals, program and event identities, impact reports, brochures, ads, presentations, event collateral, signage, infographics, webpages, emails and promotional items.

Provides print-ready files and coordinates production, including press checks and photo delivery, with project manager and printers/vendors.

Maintains USC brand continuity and visual appearance across digital, print and multimedia environments.

Coordinates the preparation of graphic design materials to be presented by visual media for a school or department.

Designs artwork, display materials and copy layouts.

Works with clients to advise, create, modify and execute design standards and/or solutions to visual media objectives and/or requirements.

Develops design specifications for work to be produced by others and oversees completion and quality of final product.

Supervises and trains staff and student workers.

Coordinates workload of freelance artists and vendors.

Perform other duties, as assigned.
This is a hybrid position under our current work arrangement plan, with the expectation of on-site presence in our offices in the USC Tower located adjacent to campus in downtown Los Angeles.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Associate's degree in Graphic Design or related field(s).

Combined 3 years of experience as substitute for minimum education.

Experience as graphic designer covering all aspects of artwork preparation and printing.

Requires thorough knowledge of typography, printing processes, selection of paper or printing surface and paper folding, binding and finishing.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

Experience in managing or coordinating a graphic service.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $32.54 - $37.00 per hour. Please note that USC operates on a 37.5 hour work week.
