The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technical Writer supporting the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS) program. This role will be critical in supporting our CMDB (Configuration Management Database) and Hardware/Software Asset Management (HSAM) project. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate documentation and communications to support the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing usage of these critical systems. This includes developing end-user guides, internal documentation, process documentation, and proactively communicating updates, changes, and best practices to a diverse audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Documentation Development:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the CMDB and HSAM systems, including:
- User guides for various user roles (e.g., IT staff, end-users, managers).
- Administrator guides system configuration and maintenance.
- Process documentation outlining workflows and procedures related to asset management.
- Knowledge Base articles to address common issues and FAQs.
- API documentation (if applicable).
- Review and provide feedback on DAF policies, manuals and other DoD documentation.
- Training materials (e.g., presentations, quick reference guides).
- Ensure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with system functionality.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and validate content.
- Adhere to established documentation standards and style guides.
- Manage the documentation lifecycle, including version control and archiving.
- Communication and Outreach:
- Develop and execute a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed about the CMDB and HSAM project.
- Support creation and distribution of regular communications, such as:
- Project updates and announcements.
- Release notes for new features and enhancements.
- System outage notifications.
- Tips and tricks for using the systems effectively.
- Support drafting and reviewing of project email communications, newsletters, and internal blog posts.
- Present information effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Proactively identify communication needs and develop appropriate strategies.
- Manage communication channels (e.g., email distribution lists, internal website).
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with the CMDB and HSAM project team, including engineers, system administrators, and business analysts.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
- Gather feedback on documentation and communication effectiveness.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on documentation progress.
- Advocate for clear and user-friendly documentation.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and content.
- Stay up to date on industry’s best practices for technical communication and asset management.
- Contribute to the development of documentation standards and style guides.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance documentation and communication efforts.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
- 15+ Years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field may be substituted for 5 years of experience).
- 5+ years of experience as a technical writer in an IT environment.
- Experience documenting CMDB and/or asset management systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera) is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience developing and executing communication plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in documentation tools
- Understanding of ITIL principles and asset management best practices.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex technical concepts.
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) is a plus.
- Experience with screen capture and image editing software (e.g., Snagit, Adobe Photoshop) is a plus.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
