Juniper Square offers employees a variety of ways to work, ranging from a fully remote experience to working full-time in one of our physical offices. We invest heavily in digital-first operations, allowing our teams to collaborate effectively across 27 U.S. states, 2 Canadian Provinces, India, Luxembourg, and England. We also have physical offices in San Francisco, New York City, Mumbai and Bangalore for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.

About your role

We are looking for an experienced and autonomous Senior Product Designer to join our team, embedded within a core product squad with broad scope across our platform. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you will own the end-to-end user experience for your product area, drive meaningful contributions to our design system, and partner closely with product managers and engineers to ship work that makes a real difference for our customers.

AI fluency is a baseline expectation. Designers at this level should be comfortable across the full range of modern design tools, including AI. That might mean starting in an LLM to frame a problem, building a quick prototype in Cursor or Claude Code to explore an interaction, or going to Figma to produce a polished developer reference. The expectation is sound judgment about what will get to the best outcome for the customer and the team.

What you'll do
  • Own the Work End to End Produce work in whatever form best serves the team and engineering, whether that's annotated flows, coded prototypes, LLM-generated specs with design system context loaded, or Figma files when a polished developer reference is needed. When handing off to engineering, ensure files are complete, accurate, and consistent with our design system. The starting point matters less than the outcome: your output should reflect the kind of judgment and taste that distinguishes considered design from generated templates.

  • Simplify Complexity Take on hard problems in your product domain and deliver solutions that feel simple. Our users work with sophisticated financial data and workflows. The complexity lives in the craft, not the interface.

  • Design for AI-Driven Features Contribute to the UX of AI-powered capabilities across our product suite, including proactive recommendations, generative summaries, and predictive insights. Get the trust and transparency details right so these features feel reliable to enterprise customers, not like a black box.

  • Generate and Apply Insights Conduct research and interpret product analytics to uncover real user needs and measure the impact of your designs. Talk directly with customers, run quick tests, and treat research as a velocity tool rather than a gate.

  • Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align on strategy and ensure design execution serves both the business and the user. Own the design relationship with your product area end to end.

  • Strengthen the Design System Continuously improve and expand our design system, advocating for consistency and pattern reuse across the product suite. Collaborate with peers on the design team to give and receive feedback, raising the collective craft of the organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer, with a meaningful portfolio of shipped work across the full development lifecycle.

  • Proven experience designing for a complex B2B or Enterprise SaaS product, ideally in a data-heavy domain.

  • Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools. Figma proficiency is expected, including experience with component libraries, auto-layout, and developer-ready handoff files. Comfort with AI-powered tools (LLMs, Cursor, Claude Code) is equally important, even if you are not writing production code.

  • Experience designing for AI/ML-driven features with strong attention to trust, explainability, and error states.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and deliver high-quality work without requiring significant direction.

  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and visual, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions to engineers, PMs, and executives alike.

  • A portfolio that showcases deep UX thinking, clear user journeys, and a high degree of visual polish.

Preferred

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a multi-platform design system, including pattern documentation and component creation.

  • Background in Financial Services, Investment Management, Real Estate, or adjacent industries.

  • A track record of designing complex tables, filters, and data visualization tools.

  • Experience planning and running customer interviews or usability tests.

  • Based in the SF Bay Area to facilitate in-person collaboration with local teams.

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is $148,000 to $185,000 USD. Actual base salaries will be based on candidate-specific factors, including seniority, skillset, location, and local minimum pay requirements as applicable. Your recruiter can provide further details.

Benefits include:

  • Health, dental, and vision care for you and your family

  • Life insurance

  • Mental wellness coverage

  • Fertility and growing family support

  • Flex Time Off in addition to company-paid holidays

  • Paid family leave, medical leave, and bereavement leave policies

  • Retirement saving plans

  • Allowance to customize your work and technology setup at home

  • Annual professional development stipend

Your recruiter can provide additional details about compensation and benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
