Altera is seeking a Manager/Senior Manager, US Tax Provision and Compliance to join its tax team and play an integral role in driving efficiencies and standardization practices in our US tax provision and compliance processes!
In this role, you'll be hands-on actively managing the various tax-related projects, while having the knowledge to think big picture and consider risk management factors. You will be expected to anticipate and address issues, recommend solutions to the business/tax team, and exercise good business judgment while performing these functions. Owning the end-to-end operational, quarterly/annual close, and reporting processes will be a critical function of this job.
This position will report to the Global Head of Tax and will be based in in San Jose, CA.
Key responsibilities include:
Partner with the Altera tax team and tax advisors to ensure quarterly/annual tax accounting requirements are fulfilled and properly reported, which includes assisting with the calculation of the company's tax provision in accordance with US GAAP.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and documentation of global tax provision processes, including, but not limited to, return-to-provision calculations, deferred tax asset and payable proofs, and quarterly/annual tax provision calculations.
Assist in the creation and management of internal controls, working among external auditors, internal auditors, and the Altera tax team members to ensure tax control processes are functioning properly and consistently refined.
Review and manage tax attributes of Altera entities and ensure the accuracy of tax-related balance sheet accounts (e.g., deferred tax assets, deferred tax liabilities).
Oversee the preparation and review of all US income and non-income tax returns
Coordinate with tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns in certain foreign jurisdictions.
Ensure compliance efforts are ‘audit ready’ and to resolve issues raised on audit strategically and efficiently.
Assist in developing framework and tools to monitor and improve efficiencies in global tax compliance and reporting requirements.
Support tax value-add projects such as R&D credit studies, local tax incentives, credit documentation including foreign tax credits and investment tax credits.
Collaborate effectively with other cross-functional teams globally to implement and improve end-to-end tax processes.
Salary Range
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS Degree in Accounting and/or Master’s in Accounting or Tax
CPA license certification and/or active Bar license
5+ years of experience at a multinational corporation and/or public accounting firm.
5+ years of experience with managing US tax provision (under ASC 740) process and US federal and/or state tax compliance workstream.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong experience in managing quarterly and annual US tax provision processes for multinational corporations.
Demonstrated track record of standardizing, executing and documenting end-to-end processes, particularly for tax compliance and provision.
Strong knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, and other tax laws, regulations, and guidance.
Knowledge in US state income tax and sales/use tax filings preferred.
Clear and concise written and oral communication skills.
Proven experience with problem solving and prioritization.
Exceptional organization and project management skills with the ability to work independently and/or cross functionally as needed to own and drive the tax provision and compliance processes.
Strong proficiency with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word. Knowledge of SAP/Oracle, OneSource, and/or Alteryx software a strong plus.
