The Role:

The Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting is a high-visibility role within our Finance Department.  Serving as the Company's lead on external reporting and technical accounting team, you will collaborate closely with legal, tax, treasury, FP&A, and investor relations to shape the Company’s financial roadmap and ensure regulatory compliance.  


This role reports to the Executive Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting, and leads the preparation, accuracy, and execution of:

  • All public consolidated financial statement filings (Forms 10-K and 10-Q)
  • The financial data included within the Company’s earnings releases
  • Subsidiary entity financial statements and critical internal financial reports
  • High-impact ad hoc finance initiatives that support our business operations

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of external financial reports (Forms 10-K and 10-Q), ensuring strict compliance with SEC regulations and US GAAP
  • Lead the drafting of financial statement disclosures, footnotes, and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), while maintaining comprehensive supporting documentation
  • Manage the research, evaluation, and documentation of technical accounting positions for complex, non-routine transactions (e.g., share-based compensation, leases, business combinations, debt refinancing)
  • Monitor new requirements from the FASB and SEC; assess organizational impact, author technical memos, and implement necessary changes to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Liaise with external and internal audit teams to streamline quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Oversee financial data collection pipelines to ensure data accuracy, reconciliation, and audit readiness
  • Foster a collaborative team environment built on high operational standards and best practices undefined

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of four years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, financial statement mechanics, and SOX internal controls
  • Systems & Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Capabilities: Effective analytical and technical research skills combined with proactive problem-solving
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex accounting topics for non-finance stakeholders
  • Organization: Effective time and energy management skills, with a proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (active status preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Combination of public accounting (Big 4 or national firms) and corporate SEC reporting exposure
  • Direct experience using Workiva (for SEC reporting)
  • Prior experience in the restaurant, retail, or hospitality industries
