These 5 LA Companies Raised $371M in July

Top fundraisers included a neuroscience startup and a company that makes touchless entry technology.

July saw the top five funding rounds in LA raise a combined total of $371 million. Anduril, a surveillance technology company, topped the list with a $200 million round. Read on for the details of each of this month’s biggest rounds.

 

#5. $32 million, July 23

CoVenture and GPS Partners led the Series A for this sports media company, launched in 2017. With the cash infusion, Wave.tv will create more media brands for more underserved fandoms.

 

#4. $36 million, July 16

This company’s technology lets people open doors using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or LTE; this type of touchless entry is particularly in demand during the coronavirus pandemic. Greycroft led the Series C. The pandemic has led to a rise in demand for contactless entry.

 

#3. $50 million, July 8

Moore Strategic Ventures led the Series C for this electric car manufacturer, which will use the funds to develop an electric vehicle, the Fisker Ocean. This will mark founder Henrik Fisker’s second attempt at making an electric car.

 

#2. $53 million, July 9

This company offers on-demand neuroscience-as-a-service to businesses, using data to quantify human thoughts and feelings. General Catalyst led the Series C round, which brought the company’s fundraising total to $107 million.

Unicorn Anduril makes drones, sentry towers and AI-based surveillance software for government contracts, and tops our list for July. Andreessen Horowitz led the company’s Series C round, which will go toward new product development.
