These Los Angeles-based tech companies started the year off right by raising more than half a billion dollars total in January.

Below, Built In ranked the top five largest funding rounds of the month.

Top LA Funding Rounds in January

  1. Quibi- $400M
  2. FloQast- $40M
  3. SpinLuanch- $35M
  4. The Bouqs Company- $30M
  5. CREXi- $30M

 

#5, $30M, January 24

CREXi is a commercial real estate marketplace. This funding round was led by Mitsubishi Estate Company, Industry Ventures and Prudence Holdings. The company has reportedly seen $700 billion of transactions flow through the platform, roughly 40 percent of those deals were exclusive to the company.

 

#4, $30M, January 30

The Bouqs is an online retailer of farm-fresh, eco-friendly flowers with plans to take a slice of Japans multi-billion dollar flower market this year, according to TechCrunch. CEO John Tabis says the company will be using the funding to bring its business to brick-and-mortar stores and expand into the wedding business. 

 

#3, $35M, January 16

SpinLaunch is an aerospace startup. The company says it is developing its own kinetic launch system that is designed to be cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the competition. This investment will be used to build out its HQ, grow its engineering and operations teams and hire at its launch facility in New Mexico.

 

#2, $40M, January 21

FloQast's software was created to help accountants manage books more efficiently. Among the company's most notable clients are Lyft, Grubhub and Yelp. Founder Mike Whitmire told Built In the recent funding will be used to expand the company's customer base and innovate its technology.

 

#1, $400M, January 8

Quibi is creating mobile-first video content that is broken up into bite-sized video chapters of 10 minutes or less. Built In reported this funding will help the company create more content and pay for marketing, especially as it gears up for its official product launch in April.
