Operating as a fast-paced, collaborative team, we transform complex market narratives into highly engaging, culturally relevant visual stories.

About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Producer, YouTube to support the day-to-day execution, creative development, and packaging of our YouTube channel. Sitting at the intersection of financial news, storytelling, and digital media, this is a hands-on production role focused on the logistical, creative, and technical elements of video creation. Working under the guidance of the YouTube Lead, you will help shape daily stories, package video assets, and use performance data to iterate on what works to drive views and channel growth.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and package daily YouTube content from Yahoo Finance’s extensive content library of shows, and interviews into clear, standalone, platform-native video packages.

  • Support senior producers in translating complex financial concepts into structured, visually engaging video concepts.

  • Develop concepts for YouTube-native formats that translate complex financial topics into visual, culturally resonant videos that drive views, engagement, and growth.

  • Execute day-to-day video packaging — titles, thumbnails, descriptions, chapters — grounded in audience behavior and real-time trends.

  • Use YouTube Analytics to monitor performance (CTR, views, watch time, retention, subscribers) and support ongoing A/B testing and content experiments.

  • Partner collaboratively with editorial, social, senior producers, and talent to adapt live video segments across the Yahoo ecosystem.

  • Actively experiment with and adopt emerging internal and approved third-party AI video and productivity tools to identify new operational efficiencies in daily creative workflows.

  • Utilize approved AI tools to draft multiple variations of highly engaging, search-optimized video titles, descriptions, and descriptive metadata for final editorial review.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in digital, streaming, or social video production, journalism, or social video creation.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar editing systems to execute high-quality, quick-turn video edits daily.

  • Solid understanding of core YouTube packaging mechanics, including thumbnails, title optimization, playlists, and community features

  • Interest in markets, personal finance, and business trends, with a strong curiosity to learn and translate financial topics for a broader digital audience.

  • Strong written communication and editorial judgment, with a focus on writing clear, compelling headlines and descriptions.

  • Commitment to continuous learning, experimentation, and adapting workflows to evolving digital platforms and AI-augmented environments.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.

  • Comfort working with basic data dashboards and performance analytics to support content decisions.

  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends aligned with major financial market events or earnings cycles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in digital video production or social content creation.

  • Advanced proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, particularly Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop for graphic and basic motion asset creation.

  • Experience utilizing generative text models to systematically brainstorm, draft, and refine creative video hooks, copy variations, and distribution angles.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop for thumbnail and graphics creation.

  • Familiarity with YouTube analytics and structured channel testing (A/B testing titles, formats, thumbnails, and publishing times).

  • Experience growing a YouTube channel, with measurable impact on views, watch time, subscribers, and audience composition.

  • Core knowledge of financial news sectors (e.g., markets, cryptocurrency, corporate earnings).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
