Job Description

The Vice President, Platform Engineering is responsible for leading technology for Identity, Access & SSO, Portal & Design System, Observability, Metrics & Monitoring, and Billing & Metering. This executive oversees the development and evolution of shared platform architecture and horizontal services that Product Engineering and AI & Agentic Platform build on top of, ensuring platform capabilities are built once and consumed as a service across the business.

Reporting to the CTO, this VP will lead a global team of 100+ employees and will work across Experian's global business units to embed scalable, secure platform capabilities that accelerate product innovation, improve operational efficiency, and reduce duplicated engineering effort. The VP serves as the senior technology voice for shared platform capability, shaping enterprise platform strategy, and delivering measurable outcomes across one of the world's leading data and technology companies.

  • Develop and execute the technology strategy for Identity, Access & SSO, Portal & Design System, Observability, Metrics & Monitoring, and Billing & Metering, scaling platform adoption globally through cloud migration, workload modernization, and platform standardization to enable growth, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the identity and access strategy underpinning ESS Technology's customer-facing Identity Management capability, driving the development and governance of SSO, RBAC, and authentication infrastructure across products and platforms.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and regional leaders to prioritize technology investments and drive innovation, applying disciplined engineering standards to ensure platform investments are aligned to strategic business outcomes and deliver measurable ROI.
  • Lead enterprise platform modernization initiatives, evolving legacy environments into secure, scalable, cloud-native architectures that support long-term business growth, resilience, and cost optimization.
  • Establish enterprise platform engineering standards, design system and portal strategy, and developer-facing tooling that accelerate engineering productivity and enable scalable, reusable technology capabilities across the business.
  • Build and evolve the observability and billing infrastructure that other teams instrument against and rely on, including monitoring, tracing, metering, and monetization plumbing, while evaluating and scaling emerging platform technologies across the organization.
  • Partner with executive leaders across Technology, Product, Security, and regional organizations to align platform investments with growth priorities.
  • Shape enterprise platform strategy and technology governance by actively contributing to key leadership forums. Act as an ambassador for Experian's platform engineering capability, enhancing the company's profile and influence within the broader technology ecosystem.
  • Engage regularly with Operating Committee level leaders across the business, including regional Product senior leaders and regional CTOs across the US, UK, EMEA, APAC, and Latin America, requiring sustained senior stakeholder management across geographies and reporting lines.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years leadership experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, identity and access management, or technology product management, including leading large-scale global technology organizations.
  • Proven track record building and scaling cloud platforms and shared technology capabilities at enterprise scale (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong ability to influence senior executives and secure stakeholder commitment, translating complex technical strategies into compelling business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success mobilizing multiple business units, engineering teams, and P&L owners to drive adoption of shared platform capabilities and enterprise-wide transformation without direct authority.
  • Deep understanding of identity, access, observability, and platform technologies, with the strategic judgment to determine capabilities to build, buy, scale, or retire.
  • Experience operating in regulated industries, with governance accountability for platform engineering standards, identity and access architecture, and design system frameworks across regions and business units.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
