COMPANY : STEVEN.COM

REPORTING TO: CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

LOCATION: LOS ANGELES

SALARY: $160,000 + BENEFITS / BONUS

ABOUT STEVEN.COM FUND

The first fund, Flight Fund, backed the most disruptive founders in consumer and tech: the innovators building products people can't put down, and companies that go on to define their category. It has been incredibly successful, backing category-defining companies such as SpaceX, Groq, Huel, Replit, and Lovable. Founded by Steven Bartlett, Fund II is the next chapter of Flight Fund, building on its blueprint and its success.

Fund II continues our focused thesis in Series A consumer product and consumer/prosumer tech, with a growth-stage lens for backing the next generation of category-defining companies.

The funds sit within Steven.com, the end-to-end operating system for the creator economy, designed to scale what is irreplaceably human. Steven.com scales creators across Media, Community, and Products, powered by proprietary tech and data and an obsessed team of 150 experts across the UK and US. Founders who join the portfolio get more than capital; they gain mentorship, guidance, and access to the full Steven.com ecosystem and Steven's wider network.

We are currently building Fund II from the ground up - raising capital, hiring, and implementing the operating platform and high-touch investor experience to match our ambition. It is an exciting time to join a small, focused team with the backing and reach of one of the most recognised names in the creator and investment world.

ROLE MISSION

Lead US deal sourcing and pipeline development for Fund II from day one. With a large share of the fund's deal flow coming from the US, you'll own sourcing, technical diligence, founder outreach and portfolio support in the market, helping the fund move fast and build real presence on the ground.

KEY OUTCOMES

  • Own US deal sourcing, building a steady flow of high quality opportunities across the fund's focus sectors while growing the fund's network, brand and visibility across the US tech ecosystem

  • Lead technical and commercial diligence, preparing IC memos and presenting deals with clear, well reasoned recommendations

  • Conduct deep sector analysis to spot emerging consumer and prosumer tech trends, and support deal execution: financial modelling, cap table analysis, valuation and term sheet negotiation

  • Support portfolio companies hands on, including board observer seats and attending board meetings

  • Support the CIO and US Partner with LP relations and fundraising as the fund scales its US footprint

  • Own CRM and pipeline hygiene, keeping process and documentation to a high standard

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • 3+ years investment experience in venture or growth

  • A proven sourcing track record and an existing US technology network

  • Strong technical diligence skills and sound commercial judgement

  • Hungry, self directed and comfortable owning a market with little supervision

YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF

  • You want ownership of a market from day one, not a seat on a big team

  • You're relentless about sourcing and energised by finding what others miss

  • You're excited to grow with the fund as its US presence scales

IDEAL BACKGROUND

  • Venture or growth investing experience with direct exposure to US deal sourcing

  • A track record leading technical and commercial diligence through to IC

  • Existing relationships across the US consumer/tech founder and investor ecosystem

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
