Overview

The Engineering, Enablement & Operations (EE&O) organization enables the Microsoft Commercial Business to better serve every person and organization’s transformation and economic success. We do this by designing and managing the systems, tools, and strategies that drive commercial excellence across planning, performance insights, skilling, sales tools, and business operations. Within EE&O, the Planning Enablement Strategy & Operations team turns complex planning needs into scalable operating capabilities and AI-enabled experiences that help the business work with greater clarity, consistency, and speed.

We are hiring a Technical Program Manager I to own, improve, and scale a growing portfolio of internal AI transformation solutions, workflow automations, operational tools, and business platforms. This role will partner with business stakeholders, solution builders, and technical owners to move capabilities from pilots or individually built solutions into reliable, secure, and supportable products. The candidate will bring hands-on technical fluency across architecture, integrations, data flows, automation logic, and AI-enabled experiences while translating business needs into prioritized requirements and delivery plans.

In this role, you will drive cross-functional technical programs across the solution lifecycle, from discovery and minimum viable product (MVP) definition through release, support, and continuous improvement. You will own capability roadmaps, solution architecture, and governance trade-offs; coordinate troubleshooting and release readiness; and establish the documentation, support models, and feedback loops needed for solutions to scale. You will bring sound judgment and a practical builder mindset to deliver durable outcomes for planning operations and the broader commercial business.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Own operational continuity: Transition internally developed tools and automations into reliable, documented, and supportable solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Manage product and portfolio priorities: Own capability roadmaps, value-based prioritization, adoption strategies, technical debt, and lifecycle decisions tied to measurable business outcomes.
  • Define solution architecture: Establish architecture principles, system boundaries, taxonomy and data contracts, application programming interface (API) and integration patterns, identity and access models, and authoritative data sources.
  • Integrate across the portfolio: Connect systems across engineering, launch, finance, governance, and impact measurement while maintaining appropriate source-system ownership.
  • Design governance: Define process architecture, decision rights, taxonomy, human-in-the-loop controls, traceability, and escalation paths to support effective operating decisions.
  • Support technical maintenance and production readiness: Troubleshoot issues, coordinate fixes, validate releases, manage known risks, and establish runbooks, support models, testing plans, and documentation.
  • Drive artificial intelligence (AI) and automation improvements: Identify opportunities to streamline processes using AI, workflow automation, data integration, and Microsoft 365 capabilities, partnering with technical and business teams to translate needs into practical solutions.
  • Enable adoption and new capabilities: Gather user feedback, monitor usage, support training and change management, and contribute to discovery, prototyping, and minimum viable product (MVP) definition for new AI, automation, and business platform opportunities.
  • Embody our Culture and Values

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
