Job Description SummaryThe Technical Leader leads the technical design, development, and implementation of comprehensive solution architectures from presales through delivery. This role will drive execution of key offerings including Distribution Automation, Process Bus Digital Substations, Cybersecurity, and Top-Down Engineering Solutions.
This individual will collaborate with business development and sales teams to analyze customer needs and translate into technical specifications aligned with the company's overall technology strategy. Project execution encompasses hardware devices (protection relays, bay controller units, auxiliary relays, industrial computers, synchronizing clocks, telecom equipment) and software applications (distribution automation, process bus, advanced protection schemes, cybersecurity management, device management, assets performance, microgrid) to monitor, control and protect various industrial applications in the energy sector.
This is a customer-facing role requiring experience presenting solutions and supporting demos, pilots, and proof‑of‑concepts to stakeholders from field engineers to executives.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead Technical Projects: Drive technical project activities and ensure successful project execution from design to commissioning.
  • Customer: Be the main technical interface between the customer and our project execution team. Lead customer technical meetings including kickoff, specification clarifications and design reviews.
  • Project Management: Participate in project risk and opportunity reviews, manage project budgets in term of man-days allocated to the engineering tasks, and provide regular progress updates. Collaborate with the Project Manager for project planning, risk mitigation and change requests.
  • Design and Documentation: Analyse customer specifications, write project technical documentation, and validate technical solutions with customers, and ensure adherence to project document control.
  • Technical Oversight: Specify software and IEDs, manage technical execution planning, and ensure adherence to GE Vernova safety standards.
  • Issue Resolution: Address technical deviations, manage fault reports, and support site engineers remotely or on-site.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and coordinate with commissioning teams for major site milestones.
  • Training and Support: Provide project-specific training to customers, support tendering and commercial teams, and ensure customer satisfaction through professional project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Digital Protection & Control Systems or Energy Management Solutions design engineering for utilities and industrials, ideally within Grid Automation.
  • Relevant experience in Electric Power Distribution Automation, Process Bus, Substation Digitization, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Asset Performance Management (APM), Device Management (DvM), or Cybersecurity Management.
  • Proficient in designing and programming electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, cybersecurity, network equipment, IEC61850, Firewalls, and more.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to travel 30% in the U.S. and Canada.

  • In-depth knowledge of automation electrical control systems, SCADA/DCS systems, and networking communication protocols.
  • Experience with smart grid technologies and renewable energy integration.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to influence and lead cross functional teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Grid Automation.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to communicate difficult concepts and influence others' opinions on specific topics.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional, Certified Protection Professional).
  • Professional Engineering license
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
