How you will contribute

The Tax Specialist II is responsible for the compliant resolution of system, agency, and client issues regarding the daily, quarterly, and annual remittance of payments, compliant and timely filings of tax returns, proper and compliant jurisdictional setup of tax types for funds collection. This role is responsible for the resolution of system, agency, and customer service issues regarding tax notices and requests from clients, internal staff and taxing authorities, and makes use of our Asure tools for documentation and resolution of tax issues and requests. Payments, filings, and agency responses are required to be timely, complete, and accurate.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties in compliance with internal procedures, external regulations and brings compliance issues to the attention of Manager. 
  • Resolves tax notices and communicate instructions or updates to clients.
  • Resolves client issues by communicating with Federal, state and local agencies as needed.   
  • Works closely with team and management to troubleshoot issues and assist in resolutions. 
  • Completes special projects and coordinates with Manager on progress. 
  • Ensures that the appropriate documentation (for clients and agencies) is noted in the Asure CRM tool.               
  • Responds to various agency notices inclusive but not limited to federal notices, state and local notices; wage reporting notices; etc.  
  • Creates payment files/check or initiate web payments to various federal, state and local agencies.  

    Qualifications 

    • Minimum 5 years of payroll tax payment and/or filing experience 
    • Multi-state and multi-client local taxation experience preferred.
    • Payroll Service Bureau experience preferred Advanced excel and payroll software skills.
    • Experience working with tax software helps
    • Strong communication skills- written and verbal
    • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, as well as work independently and make sound decisions. 
    • Ability to deliver timely and accurate results.  
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply basic concepts in new situations. 
    • Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Outlook, Evolution Payroll software (preferred, but not required), or other payroll tax software experience 
    • Proficient attention to detail and organization skills 
    • Minimum H.S. diploma/GED equivalent 

    Compensation

    The base hourly range for this position is $33.00 - $36.00, based on relevant experience, skills, and industry knowledge.
