ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

At Artera, we believe that the candidate experience is a reflection of our internal excellence. We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist who is obsessed with precision, seamless communication, and the future of work. You will initially own the backbone of our hiring process—interview coordination and documentation—while scaling into sourcing and initial screenings.

Most importantly, we are looking for a "force multiplier." You should be someone who doesn't just follow a process but looks for ways to automate and optimize it using AI and modern recruiting tools to ensure we stay fast and human-centric.

This is a full-time, in-office role (3-4 days/wk) based in our high-energy downtown Santa Barbara, CA headquarters. Join a team where you'll build your network, gain foundational business acumen, and enjoy the perks of living and working on the California coast.

Responsibilities

  • Interview Coordination: Orchestrate complex interview loops across various time zones, ensuring a white-glove experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
  • Candidate Advocacy: Act as the primary point of contact for candidates, ensuring they are informed, prepared, and excited about Artera at every stage.
  • Process & Document Management: Maintain our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), create high-quality job descriptions, and manage offer letter generation with 100% accuracy.
  • AI Optimization: Proactively identify and implement AI-driven workflows (e.g., automated scheduling, AI note-taking, or LLM-assisted communications) to increase team velocity.
  • Future Growth (Sourcing & Screening): Transition into identifying top-tier talent through creative sourcing strategies and conducting initial phone screens to assess culture and skill fit.

Requirements

  • Detail Obsession: You have a "measure twice, cut once" mentality. You catch the small errors in documents before they reach a candidate.
  • Communication Mastery: You can pivot your tone from professional and polished to warm and welcoming, whether in Slack, email, or over the phone.
  • AI Literacy: You aren't just aware of AI; you use it. You should be comfortable using tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, or specialized recruiting AI to draft content and manage tasks.
  • Data Driven: Experience pulling reports from an ATS to show funnel metrics (e.g., time-to-hire or pass-through rates).
  • Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a "we-over-me" environment and enjoy partnering with busy hiring managers to solve scheduling puzzles.
  • Adaptability: You are comfortable with the ambiguity of a growing company and are excited to take on more recruiting responsibilities as you grow.
  • Hybrid Collaboration: You thrive in a dynamic environment; you are energized by in-office collaboration 3 - 4 days a week at our Santa Barbara HQ while maintaining high productivity and seamless communication during remote days.

Bonus

  • Technical Sourcing: Experience finding niche engineering or product talent using LinkedIn Recruiter, Github, or specialized sourcing platforms.
  • Artera Tooling: Experience utilizing the tooling we use at Artera or similar products, ie. Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.), Lever (ATS), Pillar (AI Interview Companion), Slack, Zoom, LinkedIn Recruiter, Gemini.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working at a digital health, health tech, or healthcare organization.
  • Growth-Stage Experience: Previous experience in a high-growth startup environment.

Interview Process

We value your time and aim for a transparent, efficient process:
  • Initial Screen: A 30-minute conversation with the Talent Acquisition Partner to discuss your background and interest in Artera.
  • Writing Assignment: A practical take home exercise related to AI usage for candidate communication.
  • Hiring Manager Interview: A 45-minute meeting with the SVP of People to discuss the take home exercise, long-term vision for the team/role, your career growth, and alignment to Artera’s values.
  • Stakeholder Panel: Meet 2–3 team members you’ll be supporting to discuss your collaboration and communication styles, as well as an AI usage & efficiency deep dive.

OUR APPROACH TO WORK LOCATION
Artera has hybrid office locations in Santa Barbara, CA, and Philadelphia (Wayne), PA, where team members typically come in three days a week. Specific frequency can vary depending on your team's needs, manager expectations and/or role responsibilities.

In addition to our U.S. office locations, we are intentionally building geographically concentrated teams in several key metropolitan areas, which we call our “Hiring Hubs.” We are currently hiring remote candidates located within the following hiring hubs:
- Boston Metro Area, MA
- Chicago Metro Area, IL
- Denver Metro Area, CO
- Kansas City Metro Area (KS/MO)
- Los Angeles Metro Area, CA
- San Francisco / Bay Area, CA
- Seattle Metro Area, WA

This hub-based model helps us cultivate strong local connections and team cohesion, even in a distributed environment.

To be eligible for employment at Artera, candidates must reside in one of our hybrid office cities or one of the designated hiring hubs. Specific roles may call out location preferences when relevant.

As our hubs grow, we may establish local offices to further enhance in-person connection and collaboration. While there are no current plans in place, should an office open in your area, we anticipate implementing a hybrid model. Any future attendance expectations would be developed thoughtfully, considering factors like typical commute times and access to public transit, to ensure they are fair and practical for the local team.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
