Artera is seeking a high-potential, hungry, and coachable Sales Development Representative (SDR) to be the future engine of our growth. This isn't just a job; it's a dedicated fast track designed to equip you with the fundamental skills needed to break into a high-earning, long-term sales career in the booming healthcare technology space.
You'll be on the front lines, acting as a strategic consultant, not just a cold caller, using advanced sales tools and techniques to connect with executives at top healthcare organizations. If you have the drive, we provide the mentorship, training, and promotion path to an Account Executive role.
This is a full-time, in-office role (Monday-Friday) based in our high-energy downtown Santa Barbara, CA headquarters. Join a team where you'll build your network, gain foundational business acumen, and enjoy the perks of living and working on the California coast.
Responsibilities
- This role is about strategy, persistence, and honing the communication skills that separate top earners from the rest. You will...
- Own the Outreach Engine: Design and execute strategic, multi-channel outbound campaigns (phone, email, LinkedIn, video) to initiate conversations with key decision-makers (C-Suite, VPs) at major healthcare systems.
- Become a Qualification Expert: Rapidly research, identify, and deeply qualify new business opportunities to ensure high-quality pipeline development for our Account Executive team.
- Conduct Pre-Call Intelligence: Move beyond generic calls by performing in-depth research on prospects and accounts to tailor your messaging and prove you’ve done your homework.
- Drive Momentum & Insight: Utilize Salesforce daily to meticulously track progress, manage follow-up cadences, and provide critical market feedback to the leadership team.
- Collaborate and Iterate: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Account Executives and Sales Leadership to constantly test new strategies, refine messaging, and participate in role-playing sessions that will sharpen your technique.
Requirements
- We are hiring for attitude, potential, and coachability. While a background in sales helps, a proven commitment to hustle and growth is what really matters.
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree, or 1-2 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing, or goal-oriented role (e.g., retail management, university fundraising, competitive sports, military service).
- Unstoppable Drive: Highly motivated and intrinsically driven with a strong desire to compete and achieve ambitious personal and professional goals.
- Exceptional Communicator: Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to professionally engage senior executives.
- Growth Mindset: Naturally curious, eager to learn cutting-edge sales methodologies, and receptive to direct coaching and feedback.
- Team-Centric Attitude: Excited to be part of a high-energy, collaborative in-office environment where team success is celebrated.
Bonus
- Previous exposure to B2B technology sales or internships.
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce or outreach automation platforms.
- Experience in high-volume cold calling or professional phone-based outreach.
- Interest or background in the rapidly evolving Healthcare or HealthTech industry.
Our Interview Process
- We want this to be a fast, transparent, and mutually beneficial process. Here are the steps you can expect...
- Introductory Call with Talent Acquisition (20-30 min): A quick chat to learn about your background, understand your career aspirations, and share detailed insight into the SDR role, team structure, and our high-performance culture.
- Hiring Manager Video Interview (30 min): A deeper conversation focused on your motivation, sales mindset, and demonstrating your potential for rapid growth within the SDR function.
- Writing Assignment (Self-Paced, 1 hour): A short, practical exercise designed to assess your written communication and strategic research skills—both are critical components of high-level outbound sales. We do not expect you to spend more than an hour on this.
- On-site Interview with Mock Call (1 hour): The final stage, where you’ll meet members of the sales team in our Santa Barbara office to assess cultural fit and execute a short mock cold call to demonstrate your communication skills and coachability under pressure.
Please only apply if you are able and willing to work out of our Santa Barbara HQ 5 days per week.

With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
