SUMMARY:

The Steward Supervisor at La Bahia Hotel & Spa is a motivated, hands-on leader who supports the Executive Chef in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency across all kitchen and back-of-house areas. This role serves as the direct supervisory link between the stewarding team and management — providing real-time guidance, quality oversight, and daily coordination to ensure all Food & Beverage equipment and facilities consistently meet La Bahia and Spa's luxury service standards (inspired by Forbes) and reflect the unique guest experience the property is known for.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise the stewarding team during assigned shifts, ensuring productivity, accountability, and adherence to established standards.
  • Act as the lead steward in the absence of the Executive Chef, relaying priorities and updates to management as needed.
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback, modeling La Bahia's service culture and work ethic.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members on equipment handling, sanitation protocols, and safety standards.
  • Assist in monitoring team performance and communicating observations to the Executive Chef.

Cleanliness & Sanitation

  • Enforce impeccable hygiene standards in all kitchen and back-of-house areas throughout each shift.
  • Oversee the cleaning, sanitizing, and proper storage of all Food & Beverage equipment.
  • Conduct regular shift walkthroughs to identify and address cleanliness deficiencies promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Equipment & Operations

  • Monitor stewarding equipment condition and coordinate with the Engineering team for repairs or maintenance needs.
  • Supervise the restocking and distribution of clean operating equipment to all outlets and banquet facilities.
  • Coordinate with outlet teams to understand and fulfill equipment requirements in advance of service periods.
  • Implement and reinforce proper equipment handling procedures to extend lifespan and minimize damage.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate par levels for operating equipment across all outlets.

Inventory & Asset Management

  • Participate in and help lead regular inventory checks and asset maintenance programs.
  • Help enforce proper equipment handling protocols across departments.
  • Identify and report discrepancies in inventory levels to the Executive Chef.

Continuous Improvement & Sustainability

  • Identify opportunities to enhance cleaning processes, equipment care, and operational workflows.
  • Contribute to the property's sustainability efforts through proper waste management practices.
  • Support cross-departmental training initiatives related to proper equipment handling and sanitation.
  • Support management initiatives aimed at enhancing guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Steward, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity; luxury hotel and/or resort experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team with a hands-on, lead-by-example approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively direct and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and cost control principles.
  • Capability to lift, push, and pull a moderate amount of weight (up to 50 lbs).
  • Endurance to stand for extended periods and walk moderate distances throughout a shift.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
