The Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer will design scalable infrastructure for data processing in cloud and on-prem environments, mentor engineers, and make technical decisions on architecture and deployment.
About Andrenam
We’re building sonar and sensing systems that bring light to the last dark domain: the ocean. Our team includes alumni from SpaceX, Anduril, ABL, Palantir and Qualia. We build full-stack—from physics to perception to product—with speed, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.
We believe the maritime domain will define the next century of economics, geopolitics, and global security. We're here to shape it.
About this role
Andrenam is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer with expertise in building and scaling infrastructure across cloud, on-prem, and edge environments. Our core engineering challenge is developing a platform that ingests, processes, stores, and analyzes data from thousands of autonomous and semi-autonomous marine systems, handling diverse sensors, hardware interfaces, data sources, and AI-driven analytics with military-grade security requirements. You'd be an early member of the software engineering team, helping shape the architecture and technical direction of the platform from the ground up.
In this role
- You will take on significant technical ownership of Andrenam's infrastructure, from cloud-based data pipelines to systems deployed on autonomous platforms in the field, working closely with leadership on architectural direction.
- You will design and build reliable, scalable systems that support real-time data collection and analysis across thousands of distributed nodes.
- You will contribute to technical decisions across hardware, software, autonomy, and business teams to ensure infrastructure choices support the full product stack.
- You will identify and resolve high-leverage technical problems, whether that means redesigning a deployment pipeline, rethinking a data architecture, or debugging a production incident.
- You will help establish engineering standards for how we build, test, deploy, and monitor systems in both cloud and edge environments.
- You will mentor engineers and help raise the bar for infrastructure thinking across the team.
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated expertise in architecting, deploying, and operating real-time, high-volume data processing systems across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Go, C++, Rust, or related languages. You can write production code and debug across the stack.
- Expertise in Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, containerd), and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production environments.
- Proven experience writing infrastructure as code and building CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
- Strong application of cybersecurity and networking best practices in production systems, ideally in controlled or classified environments.
- Experience integrating software systems with electronics or hardware. You'll be working with systems that interface directly with physical hardware deployed in the ocean.
- Experience deploying and managing database systems (SQL and NoSQL) at scale.
- A track record of taking large, ambiguous engineering problems from zero to one.
Nice to have
- Experience with IoT systems, defense tech, or maritime/autonomous systems.
- Background working in environments subject to export control, ITAR, or similar compliance requirements.
- Previous startup experience, particularly at the early stage where you were building foundational systems and processes alongside the team.
- Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders to translate infrastructure capabilities and constraints into business decisions.
Why join us?
Andrenam is an innovative, mission-driven company at the intersection of maritime autonomy and defense. We offer:

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene
Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
- Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
