The Staff Accountant II, Development Accounting is responsible for general accounting functions related to the monthly accounting cycle, which may include various expense accounts, revenue and accounts receivable, fixed assets, liabilities and accruals or other general accounting topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the accurate closure of the monthly fiscal period by preparing monthly journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure all assigned balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, with supporting documentation for all balances.
  • Prepare monthly reports and supporting schedules for joint venture reporting.
  • Guarantee consistent achievement of all processing and reporting deadlines, alerting management of any potential obstacles or issues.
  • Oversee quarterly and year-end processing to ensure department deadlines and initiatives are met.
  • Support business unit management with financial information requests.
  • Assist with annual internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and crosschecking financial statements and footnotes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of two years of professional accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the real estate industry will be preferred.
  • Understanding of ledger accounts and sound technical knowledge of basic accounting principles is required.
  • Familiarity with accounting software or sub-ledger is preferred.
  • Experience with JD Edwards, Yardi Voyager, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Business Suite and strong Excel skills are required.

Compensation

The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $30.73 - $38.40 hourly. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.

Additional Compensation

This position is not bonus-eligible.

The Company provides 9 paid holidays per year, and, upon hire, new employees will accrue paid time off (PTO) at a rate of 0.0577 hours of PTO per hour worked, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.
