As a Senior Staff Product Manager for Adversarial Actors, you'll own the end-to-end strategy for inauthentic behavior on Pinterest. This includes detection and enforcement for bots, account takeovers, and spam across the entire Pinterest funnel. You’ll partner closely with teams across Pinterest, including Policy, Operations, Engineering, and Data Science to protect Pinners, advertisers, and the business.

What you'll do:

  • Define and deliver Pinterest's company-wide adversarial strategy spanning pre-authentication, login/signup, and post-authentication surfaces — setting multi-year vision, aligning executive stakeholders, and driving coordinated investment across Policy, Ops, MLE, Integrity Analytics, Data Science, Security, and Identity.
  • Develop and execute on the post-authentication roadmap, including measurement, detection signals, and enforcement actions. Support the Bots & ATO PM on pre-authentication roadmap.
  • Partner with Data Science and Engineering to build spam account and domain signals, including network-based detection, ML models, and heuristic-based rules.
  • Partner with the Enforcement Systems team to develop the associated suite of spam account and domain enforcement actions such as warnings, rate limits, feature restrictions, deactivations, and domain-level actions.
  • Set the metrics and measurement strategy for post-authentication spam prevalence, detection quality, and enforcement effectiveness.
  • Anticipate emerging adversarial patterns and continuously reprioritize investments to stay ahead of evolving abuse.

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum 10 years of product management experience, with deep expertise in trust & safety, account integrity, anti-abuse, or adversarial domains
  • Proven track record owning ML-powered detection products and shipping enforcement systems at scale
  • Strong data fluency — comfortable with precision/recall/FPR, prevalence measurement, and reasoning about adversarial dynamics
  • SQL proficiency — able to self-serve data investigation and analysis
  • Demonstrated systems thinking — experience navigating complex, interconnected detection and enforcement infrastructure
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and executive-level communication — proven ability to drive alignment and decisions across functions, and present strategy and recommendations to all levels of leadership.
  • Strong judgment on policy and enforcement tradeoffs, balancing enforcement with false-positive user impact
  • Excellent written and verbal communication of complex adversarial, ML, and policy concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience

In-Office Requirement Statement:
  • We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.

This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
