Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

The Company operates Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji, Saturn, and other digital services.

The Trust & Safety (T&S) Team plays an important role in protecting our Snapchatters from content that violates our terms of service or Community Guidelines — while constantly embodying our values of Kind, Smart, and Creative. The T&S team helps create a safe platform experience so that all of our users around the world are empowered to enjoy their experience on our platform, every day. We take great pride in our work as digital first responders and hope you would consider joining us.

We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee our Transparency Reporting (TR) efforts and to support our regulatory compliance efforts. They will be at the forefront of our efforts to navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment and to transparently communicate about Snap’s safety ecosystem with our user base and community. We are looking for someone passionate about safety and transparency. They should be detail oriented, action oriented and organized. We hope they can bring a strategic mind to complex operational tasks.

This individual will own projects from end-to-end; they will be expected to not only manage timelines and contributions across a wide array of cross-functional partners, but also to “get their hands dirty” to solve problems, analyze data, draft portions of our reports and publish content for external audiences. This individual will grow into a subject matter expert on Snap’s Transparency Reports.  In the process, they will work closely alongside our Trust & Safety leadership, as well as Safety Legal, Data Science, Policy and Product.

Due to the nature of Trust & Safety work, you should be willing and able to work with sensitive issues and content that may be considered offensive or disturbing. Our team has carefully devised measures and support in place to ensure wellness for all our team members.

What you'll do:

The Project Manager's scope will be approximately 80% focused on Transparency Reporting and 20% on supporting regulatory compliance. This is the approximate breakdown at this time, but that can change in response to the regulatory and compliance landscape.

Transparency Reporting (TR) Responsibilities (~80%)

  • Project Management: Manage the calendar and deadlines for all Transparency Reports. This includes preliminary report drafting, interpreting metrics, building documentation of decision flows, overseeing timely contributions from cross functional partners including Data Science and Legal, managing formal reviews and approvals, and publishing public-facing reports onto Snap’s website.

  • Analysis & Adaptation: Track metrics year-round, assess trends and insights from within the reports, and ensure appropriate data architecture is in place for new products and features. Taking action on these findings will make Snap safer.

  • Optimization: Drive ongoing improvements and automations of the current TR approach.

Regulatory Compliance Duties (~20%)

  • Project Management of New Workflows: Manage the setup of new bespoke workflows for growing regulatory obligations.

  • DSA Audit Support: Work with internal and external audit partners to demonstrate Trust & Safety’s compliance and manage work-streams that emerge from the audit period.

  • RFI/Inquiry Support: Support responding to inquiries from regulatory bodies.

Assorted Trust & Safety Enablement Support

  • Ad hoc support for other strategic and operational projects to drive scaling and optimization initiatives across Trust & Safety policy, tooling and vendor management.

  • (On occasion) investigate abuse and safety incident reports, take appropriate action per operations policies and follow through clearly and consistently on every report.

Knowledge, skills, & abilities:

  • Able to coordinate large-scale and technical projects across multiple teams at the same time.

  • Able to collaborate with stakeholders across many layers of the business; ability to translate between technical and non-technical teams and executives.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A track record of identifying gaps and solutions via root cause analysis and qualitative and quantitative research, building out documentation of decision flows, and implementing new processes – from a policy, operations, and/or tooling perspective.

  • Great judgment in complex situations and ability to problem-solve, both independently and with peers or management.

  • Analytical ability to understand data and work with basic excel and content management systems

  • An understanding, and ability to quickly develop an understanding, of a complex operational safety ecosystem.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
