Company Description

Veza(part of ServiceNow now) is the pioneer in identity security, purpose-built to answer the fundamental question enterprises face: who can and should take what action on what data. Veza's Access Graph platform maps an organization's entire identity ecosystem  across users, groups, roles, policies, permissions, and resources  providing deep visibility and control over human, non-human, and agentic identities across SaaS, cloud, on-prem, and custom applications. With over 30 billion access permissions under management, global enterprises including Blackstone, Expedia, and Wynn Resorts trust Veza to manage privileged access monitoring, non-human identity security, access entitlement management, and next-generation identity governance.

Founded in 2020 , Veza is now part of the ServiceNow family, with the acquisition closing in March 2026. The combination brings together Veza's AI-native Access Graph with ServiceNow's AI Control Tower and agentic workflows, enabling organizations to enforce end-to-end identity security rooted in the principle of least privilege across applications, data, cloud environments, and AI agents. For engineers joining Veza today, this means the scale and resources of an enterprise platform company, with the product velocity and mission-driven focus of a security innovator at a pivotal moment in the industry.

Job Description

About the Team

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Sr Software Engineering Manager to lead Veza's NHI and Agent Security team, which is redefining next-generation security at Veza. The team is advancing Agent Identity Security as AI agents and copilots rapidly expand across enterprise systems. The team drives innovation, defines next-generation IGA for non-human identities and agents, and helps shape new industry standards as the AI agent ecosystem evolves. Its work includes discovering agents, tracking their actions, and defining access management and runtime authorization capabilities to maintain a strong security posture.

This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of the engineering organization.

You will combine engineering leadership with deep technical partnership by leading skilled engineers and tech leads and setting the technical vision for NHI and Agent Security. You will work closely with product, integrations, and security engineering teams to expand Veza’s capabilities as the company scales within the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Technical Leadership

  • Own the technical vision and roadmap for Veza's NHI and Agent Security team - the core team that drives visibility, and governance of NHI and Agent Identities.
  • Drive architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices for building enterprise systems.
  • Partner with the Tech leads and Senior Engineers on high-impact technical decisions, conducting design and code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Identify and champion new technologies, tools, and approaches, including AI/ML, to continuously advance the product development.
  • Ensure the product is built and maintained with high performance, reliability, and observability, including logging, monitoring, and compliance requirements.
  • Define and drive detailed engineering execution plans, timelines, and processes that keep the team shipping with quality and predictability.
  • Shape our long-term agent identity security roadmap alongside the Product team and help define industry standards for discovering agents, auditing actions taken on agents, securing runtime authorization, and ensuring least privilege access management.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Integrations, Platform, Graph and other product teams to achieve business objectives and build product that meets customer needs
  • Partner with other ServiceNow teams to drive and unlock next-gen identity governance.

People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend software engineers and tech leads, building individual development plans and creating stretch opportunities.
  • Own the full talent lifecycle for the team - hiring, onboarding, retention, and performance.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in backend software engineering with a strong focus on distributed systems, or identity security, and 4+ years in an engineering leadership role - ideally spanning both startup and enterprise SaaS environments.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models into product workflows, or leveraging AI to enhance product experience, or system intelligence at scale - strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and frameworks, with a track record of driving AI adoption and leveraging AI-driven tools to enhance team productivity and engineering efficiency.
  • Familiarity with IGA or how traditionals systems are evolving with Agents.
  • Deep familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), distributed systems, and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with authentication, authorization protocols, and IAM concepts — understanding how identity and access relationships are structured across complex enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on engineering background with proficiency in one or more of Go, Java, or Python — comfortable diving into the codebase and engaging at a technical depth appropriate for a player-coach role.

Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a fully distributed, high-performing engineering team - hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and retaining strong engineers and tech leads.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills - able to run multiple workstreams, maintain engineering cadence, and keep delivery on track without micromanaging.
  • Clear, proactive communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for both engineering teams and senior leadership.

Who You Are

  • Relentlessly high standards - never satisfied with the status quo, always looking for a better way.
  • Able to dive deep without losing sight of the big picture - never out of touch with the technical details, never lost in them either.
  • Low ego, high intellectual curiosity - you hire people smarter than you and create the conditions for them to do their best work.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
