About you

You have a wide range of skills, including prototyping, visual design, user research/testing, and data interpretation; nonetheless, you find the process of exploration and strategy the most interesting part of your job. We are looking for someone who has experience using scientific methods to improve user experience and business metrics. The Senior Product Designer on the Growth team is expected to be outcome-driven and embrace ‘failure’ as a learning opportunity to maximize our understanding of developers’ success. You are enthusiastic about working with cross-disciplinary stakeholders to facilitate the user experience improvement conversation across different services and points of view. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Driving the end-to-end design process for experiments that produce learnings about product adoption and user engagement
  • Working with engineers to develop and test UX concepts
  • Working with researchers, data analysts, and core product design teams to enhance our understanding of MongoDB customers. Including creating a research plan for a given project
  • Driving product/service design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry standards for experimentation
  • Partnering with the core Growth Product and Design team to envision concepts for the long-term future
  • Communicating design decisions using storytelling and user insights
  • Advocating for the best experience that meets user needs and generates business growth
  • Visualizing and connecting the MongoDB ecosystem of products and services and recommending areas for improvement
  • Approaching design challenges through the lens of systems thinking, seeking a holistic user experience

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Product design
  • A strong portfolio representing the end-to-end process of product design
  • Experience designing for SaaS (Software as a Service), and working with technical teams to create user flows, wireframes, and user interface mockups
  • Growth mindset, thirst for knowledge, and embracing challenges. Has a strong desire for self-improvement and strives to deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Solid understanding of database and developer tooling industry
  • A strong portfolio using qualitative and quantitative insights to create actionable design principles and decisions

Hard skills:

  • Strong Interaction design background, including conversational design patterns and programmatic experience design
  • Experience in running simple research studies to inform design decisions
  • Working with quantitative and qualitative insights to design solutions and strategic propositions
  • Collaborative frameworks and workshop facilitation
  • Proficient in Figma and other design tools
  • Ability to craft compelling narratives that align with our users' needs and company priorities

Soft skills:

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and work in a fast-paced environment. Is comfortable with large, loosely defined user problems within their product area
  • Strong communication to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the design process
  • Adaptable to new situations and directions based on experimentation results
  • Eager to learn about new domain
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-discipline relationship building

Nice to have:

  • A good theoretical background and practical experience in service design
  • Familiarity with Growth strategy and experimentation methodologies
  • Understanding the basics of behavioral design and how to use it to solve business and user needs

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$93,000$183,000 USD
