MongoDB is seeking a Senior Engineer, AI Developer Productivity to operationalize our AI-powered developer infrastructure. The last year has seen a revolution in AI tool capabilities, and we want our engineers to be at the forefront with these tools.
In this role, you'll get a chance to define & implement the AI strategy for developer productivity for MongoDB. This includes building out from scratch AI agents and other AI-enhanced developer tooling; sorting out which AI tools in the marketplace are worth our while; and teaching us how to quantify the impact of new AI capabilities.
The Developer Productivity team is building solutions to keep MongoDB developers moving quickly, delivering high-quality features that our customers rely on. We're looking for someone with a startup mindset who can make use of the resources of a larger company to make a big impact. This role requires comfort with breaking down complex problems and working at the forefront of generative AI technologies.
We are seeking candidates located in North America for in-office, remote, or hybrid work options.
What You’ll Do
- Drive AI projects end-to-end, from ideation through adoption/growth.
- Including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, performance assessment
- Collaborating with key stakeholders throughout the company
- Empower engineers to get more done with state-of-the-art AI tooling for the problems they encounter daily (e.g. debugging, documentation, coding, etc).
- Be a thought leader in the company in the latest developments in the AI field, including following industry trends and the latest papers.
- Strategize where in the development lifecycle we can inject AI to speed up engineers and reduce toil.
- Build evaluation and monitoring frameworks for AI products in production
- Contribute to the development of our agent framework and capabilities
- Help establish best practices for AI development and deployment
What You Bring To The Table
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related quantitative field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated effectiveness in delivering new products in research or startup environments
- 5+ years of software engineering and/or product engineering experience
- Experience building Generative AI applications, specifically Agentic flows, RAG, or any state of the art methods in leveraging large language models
- Experience building evaluation frameworks for AI applications that leverage foundational models
- Strong fundamentals in Software Engineering
- Ability to drive 0-1 / MVP projects, rapid prototyping

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. $118,000—$231,000 USD
