What We Can Achieve Together:

The Sr. HR Manager serves as a strategic partner and operational lead for all HR functions within the Southern Division. This role supports the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, compensation, employee relations, and workforce planning. The Sr. HR Manager ensures alignment with The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) values and strategic goals, fostering a culture of inclusion, equity, and continuous improvement.

We're Looking for You:

The Sr. HR Manager administers and enhances HR systems, policies, and programs in compliance with statutory regulations and The Nature Conservancy’s internal policies. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics. The Sr. HR Manager anticipates and resolves moderately complex HR issues and partners closely with division management and the HR senior leaders to deliver impactful HR solutions. Candidates located in AL, LA, MS, FL, NC, SC, GA, KY, TN, VA preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE:

  • Leads the coordination of the recruitment strategy for various roles, ensuring inclusive hiring practices and alignment with compensation structures.

  • Collaborates with the Divisional Recruiter and hiring managers to execute timely and effective recruitment and onboarding plans.

  • Supports staff through the Performance Partnership process, including objective setting, feedback, and calibration, ensuring compliance with deadlines and training requirements.

  • Partners with HR Leadership and Employee Relations to address employee concerns and foster a positive work environment.

  • Works with the HR Leadership to assess workforce planning needs and build business unit capacity. This includes promotions, development needs, succession planning, restructuring, etc.

  • Keeps current with relevant employment laws and assist managers and staff with interpretation and compliance. 

  • Supervises member(s) of a centralized HR team.

  • May travel and work non-standard business hours as needed to accommodate clients in different time zones.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years Human Resources work experience in area(s) of specialization or equivalent combination.

  • Experience coordinating and leading projects.

  • Experience responding to HR related questions, problems and data information requests from employees/management.

  • Experience the following areas: database management and spreadsheet software; constructing, and producing reports; data input, manipulation and analysis.

  • Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work across multiple time zones to meet the business units needs.

  • Experience working with integrated Human Resources Management Systems.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience managing direct and developing direct reports.

  • Experience with fundamental complex HR concepts, processes and knowledge of U.S employment law.

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.

  • PHR or SPHR nice to have. 

  • Proven organizational skills and strong attention to detail with the ability to make sound decisions with limited information.

  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining HR related policies, guidelines, and processes. 

  • Ability to juggle multiple competing deadlines, flexible to changing priorities, and proven ability to work in a fast paced and highly interactive environment.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.

Salary Information:

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $81,000 - $111,000 . This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
