Job SummaryPlans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power. Broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies for the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. ***Onsite at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location. Essential Functions
  • Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
  • Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
  • Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
  • Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products. 
Additional Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops new brushed and multiphase brushless DC electric motors.
  • Performs design experiments related to motor designs and develops test methods, from concept to planning and execution stage.
  • Conducts motor performance predictions by analyses of actual data and through the development of design related algorithms in addition to the existing methods.
Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Travel RequirementsUp to 25% travel likely. Pay Range (USD)$105,000-$142,000 Pay Transparency StatementThe salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
