Job Description:

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

SkinHealth Systems’ evolving data ecosystem requires engineers who can turn complex business challenges into scalable, production-ready solutions. The Forward Deployed Engineer sits at the intersection of engineering and the business, partnering directly with teams across the organization to design and build data integrations, pipelines, and automation solutions across our Snowflake-based environment. This highly hands-on role combines deep technical expertise with strong business partnership to rapidly solve problems and translate real-world needs into sustainable technology solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop production-quality Python scripts and automation workflows to ingest, clean, transform, and move data across ERP, CRM, operational databases, APIs, and third-party SaaS platforms.
  • Implement and optimize Snowflake capabilities including stages, tasks, streams, stored procedures, dynamic tables, data sharing, access controls, and performance optimization.
  • Design and troubleshoot ETL/ELT pipelines using dbt and other integration or orchestration technologies, ensuring reliable and scalable movement of data across enterprise systems.
  • Partner directly with business and technology teams to understand complex requirements, data models, workflows, and downstream analytics needs and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex data quality issues, pipeline failures, integration challenges, and Snowflake performance problems within production environments.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence, enterprise applications, and other technology teams to ensure data solutions effectively support downstream Power BI reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
  • Build technical documentation, runbooks, and reusable engineering patterns that improve supportability, knowledge transfer, and consistency across the data environment.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and automation capabilities, and identify practical opportunities to improve business processes, data accessibility, and technology delivery.
  • Collaborate with technology leadership on solution design and technical planning, providing hands-on engineering insight to inform the evolution of SkinHealth Systems’ data platform and capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
