The opportunity

Our client is looking for an independent Sourcing Recruiter to build top-of-funnel pipelines for executive leadership and senior/staff+ engineering roles. You will identify passive talent, own pipeline metrics, and partner with hiring managers and recruiting leadership across San Francisco, New York, and key European markets.

About the Organization

Our client operates across San Francisco, New York, and Europe. This role supports high-priority executive and senior technical hiring through targeted sourcing, market intelligence, and high-quality candidate engagement.

What you will do

Build pipelines for executive roles (VP, SVP, C-level) and senior engineering roles (Staff, Principal, Distinguished Engineer, Engineering Director, VP Engineering) across San Francisco, New York, and key European tech hubs.

Conduct targeted market mapping and competitive intelligence across target companies, organizational structures, relevant leaders, and talent movement patterns.

Use AI-powered sourcing tools, advanced LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean and X-ray search, and traditional methods to identify passive candidates.

Create and refine personalized multi-touch outreach, and screen candidates for technical or leadership fit, motivation, and compensation alignment.

Maintain accurate ATS data and track response rates, pipeline conversion, time-to-slate, compensation benchmarks, and market trends to improve sourcing strategy.

Partner with hiring managers and recruiting teams to deliver qualified slates, ensure smooth hand offs, communicate blockers, and maintain confidentiality on sensitive searches.

Requirements What you bring

5+ years of recruiting or sourcing experience, with a proven track record in executive search and/or senior technical recruiting, including Staff+ engineering, engineering leadership, or C-suite roles.

Proven sourcing experience in San Francisco, New York, and/or major European tech markets, including familiarity with talent landscapes, compensation norms, and market nuances.

Hands-on fluency with AI-assisted sourcing workflows, Boolean and X-ray search, advanced LinkedIn Recruiter, and tools such as HireEZ, SeekOut, Gem, or similar.

Excellent written English and the ability to create credible, highly personalized outreach for senior executives and engineers.

Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, own pipeline priorities and metrics, and work asynchronously with significant overlap across US Pacific/Eastern and Central European business hours as needed.

Helpful, but not essential

Experience in an executive search firm, high-growth startup talent team, or recruiting agency specializing in technical and executive placements.

An existing network or strong familiarity with executive and engineering talent in San Francisco, New York, and Europe; exposure to AI/ML, infrastructure, or fintech is helpful.

Experience building sourcing workflows with AI-native platforms such as Gem, HireEZ, SeekOut, Fetcher, or similar tools.

Benefits How the engagement works

This is a full-time consultant engagement reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition, with close partnership across hiring managers, recruiting leadership, and recruiting coordinators. Contracting and administrative arrangements will be confirmed separately.

As a consultant/contractor, you are expected to provide your own laptop and basic equipment, maintain reliable connectivity and a secure working environment, and follow required security controls, including two-factor authentication.

Any client-provided specialized equipment, leave, stipend, wellbeing-benefit, or other support will be stated separately as an approved exception.

Working hours require significant overlap with US Pacific and Eastern business hours and Central European business hours as needed, with occasional live overlap for critical calls.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
