We are seeking a motivated Software Development Engineer III to join Blue Origin's team developing manufacturing automation and execution to drive efficiency throughout the factory. In this role, you will be a key member of a team supporting manufacturing by developing software solutions enabling real-time analysis and decision-making. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products using groundbreaking software and hardware technologies. We use the latest AWS, Java, React, and GenAI platforms and approaches to build distributed, highly available systems to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities:
- Work as a fullstack-capable engineer to develop and support applications (web-based, desktop software, or mobile applications) that enable manufacturing teams to efficiently implement, track, and streamline build processes
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of successful enterprise-scale systems and services in support of operations and the businesses they support
- Create quality technical and user-facing documentation for features you work on
- Use and support DevOps technologies like automated CI/CD pipelines and Terraform
- Recommend and implement improvements to Operational Excellence metrics (examples: system latency reduction, on-call remedy automation, and sprint task management)
- Participate in on-call rotation for services supported by our team
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in computer science, information science or related field; or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience writing software and deploying it to production environments
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability translate domain expertise into applications
- Either Java or JavaScript / TypeScript as a primary coding language
- Experience developing APIs and building applications on them in a production environment
- Familiarity with the deployment of software from development to production
- Experience with version control (Gitlab / Github) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with unit and e2e testing on backend Java or frontend React / web applications
- Familiarity with SQL and database systems and use of REST or GraphQL APIs to connect with systems
- Have an ability to take ownership, step in to help team members as needed, collaborate with team members to identify, and fix technical problems
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Experience using Generative AI to build software
- Familiarity with Angular or Python coding language
- Previous use of AWS, Azure, or other cloud infrastructures
- Understanding and experience with manufacturing software applications, scheduling and planning, or automation
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $148,014.00-$207,218.55
