We’re Jubilee Media.

At Jubilee, we're on a mission to provoke understanding and create human connection. We explore experiences that push people to feel more, think more, and see more in others. We challenge the belief of a black-and-white world, and instead embrace the complexity and richness of our experiences. By magnifying these stories we can discover personal identities, shared truths, and how we fit in the overarching human story. People are at the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for the next passionate teammate to join us on this journey. Together, we have the power to shift perspectives—and maybe even change the world.

About This Role

We're building a slate of original short-form formats for Jubilee and nectar: net-new IP designed to stand on its own, grow our channels, and give brand partners real ways to participate.

As our Short-Form Director, you'll own that slate end to end. You'll develop and greenlight formats, produce them, and iterate based on how they perform. You'll work alongside our Creative, Production, Brand Marketing, and Brand Partnerships teams to get formats made and sold. This is a builder role. The slate is early, the process isn't fully defined yet, and you'll have real influence over what we make and how we make it!
What You’ll Do:

Build the slate

  • Develop original, repeatable short-form formats for Jubilee and nectar, from concept through publish
  • Pressure-test ideas against what's actually producible given our schedules, budgets, and studio space
  • Kill ideas that don't work, quickly, and be clear about why

Produce

  • Own formats through pre-production, production, and post, working with our Production, Casting, and Post teams
  • Scope each format realistically: shoot days, cast needs, crew, and budget
  • Build production plans that our teams can actually execute alongside our long-form slate

Be on camera

  • Host, interview, and appear in formats where you're the right person to carry them
  • Build formats that can travel beyond you, so the slate isn't dependent on a single face

Give direction

  • Provide real feedback and direction to the team members contributing to short-form work
  • Set the bar for what a Jubilee or nectar short-form format looks and feels like

Partner with Brand Partnerships

  • Develop formats that are audience-first and genuinely attractive to brands
  • Work with the BP team on how integrations live inside a format without compromising it
  • Be a credible creative voice in front of partners when needed

Learn and iterate

  • Use performance data to decide what gets another season, what gets reworked, and what gets shelved
  • Stay ahead of platform shifts, emerging formats, and what's actually working in short-form

Who You Are:

  • 2-3 years in content creation, short-form, or unscripted development and production, with formats you can point to
  • You've taken original formats from idea to published, not just executed someone else's vision
  • Real production literacy: you understand shoot days, call sheets, casting, crew, and what things cost
  • Strong instincts for hooks, pacing, retention, and what makes someone stop scrolling
  • Deep fluency in TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, and in the culture that moves on them
  • Experience with branded or sponsored content, and a point of view on doing it without making it feel like an ad
  • You can give clear creative feedback to people who don't report to you, and hold a room with production and partnerships
  • Comfortable and compelling on camera as a host or interviewer, with work you can show us
  • Hands-on enough to cut a rough edit yourself when it's faster than explaining it (Premiere, CapCut, or similar)

Nice to have

  • Experience building a slate or a format pipeline from scratch
  • Familiarity with the creator economy and creator collaborations
Interview Process
  • Recruiter Interview
  • Creative (Video) Exercise
  • Hiring Manager Interview
  • Team Interviews

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive Compensation  –  $60,000 - $65,000 💰
  • Flexible PTO – Take the time you need to rest and recharge! 🌴
  • Generous Holidays –  Plus a sweet week-long reset at the end of the year ❄️
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans – Choose the one that works best for your lifestyle! 🩺
  • Team Retreats, Bonding Activities, and a People-Centered Culture 🌄
  • Catered Lunches & Stocked Kitchen 🍪
  • Annual Learning Stipend 📚
  • Life Insurance, 401(k) Plan 🏦
  • Stock Options 📈

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
