ICF’s Transportation Practice specializes in addressing complex planning, policy, and program issues at the nexus of transportation and the environment, energy, and communities. ICF’s work focuses on integrated approaches that support sustainable transportation decisions, addressing mobility, safety, and environmental, social, and economic effects of transportation. Our work includes strategic planning, research, policy analysis, outreach, training, and program evaluation for Federal, State, and local governments, including the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), State transportation and environmental agencies, and metropolitan planning organizations. Our work often includes evaluating the impacts of infrastructure projects, programs, and government policies; developing guidebooks; and documenting best practices related to integrated planning, transportation operations, and the environment.
 

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Transportation Data Specialist, responsible for planning and completing projects and tasks in our Washington, DC office. The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Transportation data related to freight and/or passenger travel, and traffic flow, with the ability to conduct complex data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience in performing geospatial analysis and proficiency in the use of Geographic Information System tools
  • Use ESRI ArcGIS tools and Apps to support analysis, visualization, and public engagement, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Dashboards, Experience Builder, StoryMaps, and Survey123.
  • Build, run, and validate transportation models related to safety, planning, and policy analysis, including crash analysis, performance measurement, scenario testing, and benefit–cost evaluations.
  • Experience in analyzing transportation data using statistical methods.
  • Experience in using scripting languages and software coding and software packages such as SAS, Python, R, etc., including Excel macro development.
  • Experience in the visualization of transportation data and development of interactive dashboards in software such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Basic understanding of databases and SQL
  • Assist with before–and–after studies and policy evaluations for safety strategies and investments.
  • Transportation asset management concepts, benefit-cost analysis, and system condition and performance assessment
  • Transportation System performance analysis concepts, including the analysis of system performance data and probe data such as RITIS NPMRDS, INRIX, and ATRI.
  • Support long-range transportation plans (LRTPs/MTPs), TIP prioritization, corridor studies, and policy assessments using quantitative and scenario-based methods.
  • Work directly with clients, senior staff, and internal and external experts in their field of expertise.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff
  • Conducting geospatial analysis of transportation networks and related transportation data
  • Interacting and communicating with clients
  • Developing technical reports, guidance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation engineering or planning, or related fields
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting in the transportation industry

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Master's degree in transportation engineering or systems engineering
  • Experience conducting transportation projects for US DOT, TRB, state DOTs, MPOs and/or other public sector transportation agencies.
  • Government consulting experience

Professional Skills:

  • Identifies and meets the needs of clients within established guidelines.
  • Understands task expectations and how tasks fit in the overall project.
  • Works collaboratively with the project team and client to achieve established goals.
  • Develops and manages a portfolio of projects in a particular area of expertise.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$81,147.00 - $137,949.00
