Job Description Summary

Supply Chain Coordinator

The Supply Chain Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for all supply chain–related matters for assigned projects. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring material supply to support project and production requirements. Working closely with the Project Planner, the Supply Chain Coordinator develops realistic, committed supply plans and partners across the Supply Chain Center—including Supply Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Logistics—to ensure successful execution.

The role focuses on managing purchased material requirements, ensuring on‑time material availability at appropriate inventory levels, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could impact delivery, cost, or business objectives. While the position does not assume ownership of functional responsibilities (e.g., Procurement or Shipping), it plays a critical coordination and escalation role to ensure alignment and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Planning & Coordination

  • Analyze demand for assigned parts and maintain a balanced supply plan to support project and production needs

  • Develop, maintain, and execute material plans using MRP and order release processes

  • Coordinate with Buyers on capacity planning, ordering strategies, and supplier commitments

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Production Schedulers to align demand, supply status, and schedule changes

Supplier & Material Management

  • Serve as the focal point for purchased material commitments and delivery status

  • Monitor supplier performance, follow up on deliveries, and manage schedule changes

  • Investigate material shortages or delays, establish recovery plans, and communicate revised schedules

  • Proactively communicate demand, forecasts, risks, and mitigation plans to internal stakeholders

Inventory & Data Management

  • Analyze inventory levels, turnover, and material health for assigned parts

  • Review and disposition excess, slow‑moving, or obsolete inventory

  • Maintain accurate item and planning data within ERP/MRP systems

Communication & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide accurate, timely, and proactive material status updates to internal customers

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Procurement to minimize disruptions

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material availability, lead‑time reduction, and inventory optimization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain management, material/production planning, or inventory planning/analysis

  • Solid understanding of material and production planning fundamentals

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel required, including formulas, functions, and pivot tables)

  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and multiple platforms

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform in a fast‑paced environment

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to drive issues to resolution

  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma / CPS Green Belt or Black Belt certification or experience

  • ERP experience with BAAN or Infor LN

  • APICS certification

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Mathematics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or Economics

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
