Leads 10–30 hourly employees in a gear manufacturing environment, directing daily production, quality, safety, scheduling, and continuous improvement activities. Supervises gear cutting, grinding, CNC machining, inspection, tooling, and material handling operations. Coordinates with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production control; manages staffing, employee relations, cross-training, and process problem-solving. Ensures compliance with work instructions, labor agreements, company policies, and performance targets while supporting modernization initiatives and maintaining production flow.

Supports sourcing and supply-chain strategy by developing supplier roadmaps, analyzing supplier markets and capacity, assessing risks, identifying sourcing opportunities, and creating mitigation plans. Collaborates with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and other teams to align supplier strategies with business goals. Monitors supplier performance and drives continuous improvement, standardization, resilience, efficiency, and cost savings across the supply base.

Manages strategic and complex supplier relationships, including supplier performance, purchase orders, cost reduction, negotiations, contracts, sourcing, and supplier selection. Leads cross-functional supplier development, problem resolution, continuous improvement, and NPI initiatives. Uses cost modeling and total-cost-of-ownership analysis while supporting supply chain objectives, risk management, and business continuity.

Set up and operate lathes, mill/drill and surface grinders using prints/O.I.S.; perform independent machine setup, make program corrections, use precision measuring instruments, maintain tooling and coolant, troubleshoot machine issues, and report damage to ensure parts meet specifications.

Set up and operate OD/ID gear grinding machines to correct geometry on shafts, splines, and gears. Use precision instruments and optical equipment, dress and balance wheels, inspect and document finished parts, follow EH&S procedures, and perform related gear machining tasks.
