I can succeed as a Senior Specialist on the New Investment Strategies & Capabilities team at Capital Group.

The New Investment Strategies & Capabilities team helps shape the future of Capital Group’s investment offerings through research, product innovation, and strategy design. We combine input from clients, market and competitive insights, and investment expertise to evaluate emerging opportunities and develop new investment solutions that can be delivered across a range of investment vehicles. Working globally and across asset classes, we partner with investment, sales, client group, legal, and other cross-functional teams to assess and prioritize new ideas, build business cases, and guide initiatives from concept through strategy design and launch.

As a Senior Specialist on the team, you will evaluate new opportunities, conduct market and competitive research, and translate complex qualitative and quantitative information into clear recommendations for stakeholders and governance groups. You will also contribute to strategic roadmaps, business cases, and product design initiatives while leading small- to medium-scale projects and partnering with senior leaders on larger, more complex efforts.

I am the person Capital Group is looking for.

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in product strategy, product development, management consulting, investment research / management, corporate strategy, or a related field.
  • You have strong investment acumen and a general understanding of investment vehicles, the asset management industry, and public and private markets.
  • You can absorb complex qualitative and quantitative information, identify the most important insights, and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.
  • You are a strong problem solver who approaches ambiguous situations with structure, sound judgment, and intellectual curiosity.
  • You are comfortable working in environments where the path forward is not always clearly defined and can effectively navigate competing perspectives, incomplete information, and evolving priorities.
  • You have exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • You have experience leading cross-functional initiatives and building productive relationships with diverse stakeholders to drive alignment and achieve outcomes.
  • You are a skilled written and verbal communicator who can influence stakeholders, facilitate discussions, and confidently present recommendations to senior audiences.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience developing business cases, strategic roadmaps, product plans, or go-to-market recommendations.
  • Experience using investment research databases such as Morningstar, eVestment, and FactSet.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
