GCI's Senior Salesforce Developer will support the organization's Salesforce ecosystem by designing, developing, testing, and implementing scalable and efficient solutions that meet evolving business needs. In partnership with the Salesforce Business Analyst and Salesforce Administrator, this position ensures the effective integration, optimization, and maintenance of Salesforce products, supporting strategic initiatives and enhancing user experience. Brings technical expertise to automate processes, improve data integrity, and help deliver a high-performing, secure, and user-friendly CRM platform.

Working Relationships:

  • Salesforce Business Analyst: Collaborates to understand business requirements, recommend solutions, and validate functionality post-development.
  • Salesforce Administrator: Partners to ensure changes are aligned with configuration standards, user permissions, and platform stability.
  • IT Teams: Coordinates with data, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure and seamless integration of Salesforce with other systems.
  • End Users: Supports training efforts and addresses feedback on functionality and performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL LEVELS:

Solution Design & Development:

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to gather and understand functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Design and implement scalable, reusable, and high-performance solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, SOQL, and SOSL.
  • Develop custom objects, fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, formulas, and workflows to meet business needs.
  • Build user-centric experiences using Lightning Experience and custom UI components, ensuring alignment with user stories and wireframes.
  • Create robust, modular code that adheres to Salesforce best practices and is compatible across releases and environments.

Platform Configuration & Customization:

  • Configure and extend standard Salesforce features, including Flows, Approval Processes, and Process Builder automations.
  • Leverage Salesforce declarative tools when appropriate, balancing click-based solutions with custom code for maintainability and performance.
  • Work with the Salesforce Administrator to ensure business logic and automation layers function cohesively and efficiently.
  • Optimize the use of permission sets, roles, profiles, and sharing rules to ensure secure access to data and features.

Integration & Data Management:

  • Design and implement secure integrations between Salesforce and external systems (e.g., ERP, HRIS, marketing platforms) using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi), or native connectors.
  • Develop and maintain batch processes, scheduled jobs, and event-driven workflows for seamless data synchronization.
  • Assist in data mapping, transformation, and migration efforts during new implementations or system changes.
  • Collaborate with data teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across all Salesforce applications.

Testing, Quality Assurance & Deployment:

  • Create and execute unit tests with robust code coverage to meet Salesforce deployment standards.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high code quality, adherence to best practices, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with release management teams to package and deploy components across environments using CI/CD pipelines, change sets, or Salesforce DX.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and troubleshoot issues identified in testing environments.

Support, Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide ongoing support and timely resolution for production issues, enhancements, and change requests.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement or risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with the Administrator to maintain sandbox environments, refresh schedules, and testing configurations.
  • Log, track, and manage technical issues through a structured ticketing or change request system.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner closely with the Salesforce Business Analyst to translate business processes into technical solutions and validate development outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Salesforce Administrator to ensure system stability, maintain shared ownership of the platform roadmap, and address platform limitations or risks.
  • Provide guidance and technical insight to internal stakeholders, end users, and IT teams regarding the Salesforce platform's capabilities and limitations.
  • Document technical specifications, design patterns, and deployment procedures to support ongoing maintenance and team knowledge transfer.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up to date on Salesforce platform releases, emerging features, and industry trends; assess applicability to organizational needs.
  • Propose and implement platform enhancements that improve system usability, performance, scalability, or automation.
  • Participate in roadmap planning and architectural discussions to help shape long-term platform strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, reduce technical debt, and increase business value from Salesforce investments.

Responsible for mentoring junior team members, managing platform integrations, and ensuring adherence to development best practices and governance standards.

  • Champion technical innovation by evaluating new tools, features, and patterns to improve solution efficiency and maintainability.
  • Serve as the technical lead on high-impact projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture and business goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and administrators to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Drive code quality through peer reviews and enforce best practices in version control, testing, and documentation.
  • Support the onboarding, coaching, and technical development of junior developers and contractors.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of the development lifecycle.

Leadership & Collaboration:

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, SOSL, and Salesforce integration frameworks (REST/SOAP APIs, middleware tools).
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce DX, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices within multi-environment org structures.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable, enterprise-grade solutions within Salesforce, balancing technical complexity with business impact.
  • Demonstrated success leading code reviews, establishing development standards, and mentoring technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, governor limits, security model, and data structure optimization.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. *
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Salesforce development experience, including technical leadership on complex projects. *

Preferred:

  • Experience with large-scale data migration, API development, and enterprise integration.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce security model, data architecture, and governor limits.
  • Salesforce Industries experience (particularly Communications Cloud).
  • Experience working with OmniStudio (OmniScripts, FlexCards, DataRaptors & Integration Procedures).
  • Experience within the telecommunications industry.
  • Other telecom industry specific certifications and/or job specific certifications. 
    • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification
    • Application Architect
    • Integration Architecture Designer

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:  

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel, such as between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:   

  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions. 
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.
