About COVU
COVU is a venture-backed insurtech startup reimagining how independent insurance agencies operate. We’re building an AI-native agent workspace that unifies communication, automation, and workflows—helping agencies grow faster and operate smarter. Our founders bring deep expertise in AI and cloud platforms, and we’re tackling big, meaningful challenges with a modern, scalable approach.

The Role

We are seeking a high-velocity, technically-rooted Product Manager to lead our Execution and Orchestration pods. In this role, you will own COVU OS, our advanced workflow management tool that replaces traditional CRMs with task orchestration and customizable flows based on SOPs and Data-driven Learning Loops.

Your primary mission is to ensure the right work reaches the right human or AI agent at the right time and ensure those agents have the tools they need to provide exemplary customer service. You will lead a squad of senior engineers, serving as their primary "unblocker" by translating complex business logic into precise, plain-text requirements and functional mappings. You aren't just managing features; you are architecting the "factory floor" of modern insurance.

This role is not focused on UI features. It focuses on the systems that power operational workflows.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Task Orchestration: Define and refine the logic for our Assigner and Ranker systems to ensure tasks are processed with maximum utility and minimal manual effort.
  • Contemporary Archaeology: Rapidly come up to speed on our contemporary AI-coded platform, identifying UI inconsistencies and logic gaps to ensure a scalable foundation for our Series B.
  • Eliminate Engineering Friction: Create high-fidelity, plain-text documentation (logic flows, state changes, and error handling) that allows engineers to focus on code rather than clarifying ambiguous requirements.
  • Master User Science: Conduct user interviews and analyze behavior to run A/B tests that move the needle on System Utility Scores and Performance Lift.
  • Collaborate with Intelligence: Partner with Product Leadership and our AI team to integrate automation and "Insurance GPT" directly into the core workflow.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience, specifically in high-growth SaaS or WFM/CRM environments.
  • High Technical Literacy: You must be comfortable reading API responses in Postman, writing SQL queries, and creating system architecture diagrams. You understand how software is built.
  • No-Fluff Documentation: Proven ability to write requirements in clear, plain English. You value precision over "user story" templates.
  • AI-Efficiency: Proficiency in using AI tools for content generation and prototyping without relying on "AI-slop" or unverified outputs.
  • Decision Velocity: A self-starter who can make product-wise decisions autonomously, prioritizing data integrity over superficial UI polish.

Bonus:

  • Experience in the insurance technology (insurtech) industry.
  • Prior experience in a Series A or fast-paced agile environment.

Why Join Us

  • Lead foundational projects shaping the future of insurtech.
  • Work directly with founders and senior leaders in AI, product, and engineering.
  • Own meaningful architecture decisions and influence team culture from the ground up.
  • Be part of a high-growth, venture-backed startup tackling real industry challenges.
  • Competitive compensation + equity package.

Our Interview Process

  1. Intro Call: 30-minute screen with the People Team.
  2. Product Vision & Principles: Deep-dive interview with the VP of Product to ensure alignment on strategy vs. tactics.
  3. Technical Product Exercise: A time-boxed live assessment where the candidate designs a solution for a real orchestration scenario (task lifecycle, prioritization, assignment logic, states, and edge cases) and then walks through and defends their approach with the VP of Product and Engineering Leadership.
  4. Final discussion with leadership

Please be strictly advised that the use of any real-time AI assistance, screen-reading software, or external aids during the application process is strictly prohibited. We employ active detection methods to ensure the integrity of our hiring process. Any violation of this policy will result in the immediate termination of the interview and permanent disqualification of your candidacy.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
