Responsibilities:
DEVELOPMENT AND PRE-PRO

  • Collaboration and Team
    • Complete tasks as assigned and directed by senior members of the creative team
    • Where OOH budgets may not allow, assist in the creation of deck slides for pre-production needs
    • Consistently communicate on all aspects of shows with EP and Sup so that creative vision is successfully executed
    • Attend and participate in all internal and external creative meetings
    • In conjunction with the EP and Supervising Producer, contribute in the creative collaboration of all aspects of creative on a class from development through launch
    • Read and give constructive notes on pitches, curriculums, and other documents, as assigned by EP and Supervising Producer
    • Juggle several projects at once from development through launch
    • Keep track of and flag deadlines for deliverables as needed from pre-pro through launch
  • Instructor Selection
    • Research instructor(s) and any existing materials relevant to classes
    • Data test instructors and topics or if needed, gather insights from Insights Team on topic interest or instructors
    • Pitch casting options and provide notes, guidance, and feedback to EP and Sup
    • Attend and participate in all internal and external talent meetings
  • Research and Development
    • Research other ideas in the space/genre/topic to ensure we have a unique offering that’s not on other streamers
    • Develop a POV on the best topics the instructor can teach versus delivering an information dump
    • Understand wider audience needs (TAM) when ideating class topics
    • Ideate and develop multiple options and formats for classes and pitch internally (first to your direct supervisor(s), and with their approval, to leadership)
    • In collaboration with EP and Sup, and after gaining buy-in from Content Leadership on a format, develop creative brief, show outline, and any additional internal creative materials as assigned
    • In collaboration with EP and Supervising Producer, work with consultants and talent to craft curriculums and ensure projects stay on-brand and meet MasterClass internal expectations
    • In collaboration with EP, Supervising Producer, and cross-functional teams, develop and shape the creative expectations of classes from the looks to the learnings
    • Develop class curriculum in collaboration with the EP and Supervising Producer
    • Work with the director and OOH producers as they further develop creative materials
    • Write creative briefs, one-pagers, and outlines and contribute to the documented research of topics and instructors for briefs as assigned by EP and Supervising Producer
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, like R&C, marketing, graphics, set design, and production management prior shoots so all are aligned on goals, visual aesthetics, and expectations

PRODUCTION

  • Attend shoots via Zoom or in person if feasible and take notes as directed by the EP or Supervising Producer -- this is less about play-by-play and more thinking about pickups we might want to get for content or cadence
  • Contribute to formulation of pickup interview questions during a shoot (whether remote from zoom or on set) to ensure continuity and maximize the effectiveness of the class content
  • Assist in refining creative materials specific to each OCP and their specific areas of expertise as assigned

POST

  • Assist with providing initial music recommendations to OOH producers, when requested, to help shape the tone and atmosphere of the class
  • Pulling archive when needed in post for classes to elevate storylines (when OOH teams may need additional direction)
  • Assist with beta testing request documents, as assigned by EP and Sup
  • Write edit scripts/paper edits for long form and/or short form content
  • Review cuts, provide feedback to EP and Supervising Producer, and work in tandem with the OOH production team to refine the classes structure
  • Contribute to beta testing request documents

OVERALL

  • Staying organized, keeping things in a digestible format, and meeting deadlines or alerting EP and Sup if there are roadblocks
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by EP and Sup

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years min professional experience in a creative role
  • Work with EP/Supervising Producer to create content from development through production
  • Experience creating show outlines, treatments, visual decks, and curriculum

  • Highly organized with ability to implement workflows tailored to the projects
  • Can-do attitude and flexibility working in a fast-paced environment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
