Sitting within our Commercial function, you'll operate at a strategic level, developing relationships with major financial institutions and helping translate complex payment infrastructure requirements into scalable platform capabilities.

This is a commercially focused role with significant strategic ownership. You'll work closely with Product and Engineering and other business functions to ensure our sponsor bank partnerships support long-term growth, market expansion and customer needs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Build and manage strategic relationships with sponsor banks, financial institutions and payment infrastructure providers.
  • Develop scalable sponsor bank engagement models, onboarding frameworks and market-entry playbooks.
  • Structure and commercialise network partnership opportunities, balancing commercial objectives with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Translate complex payment infrastructure, scheme and sponsor bank requirements into clear product recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Architecture to influence the development and prioritisation of sponsor-bank-enabled platform capabilities.
  • Analyse payment flows, clearing, settlement, liquidity and operational requirements to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support market assessments, business cases and commercial propositions for new-market opportunities.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs to measure partnership success, market readiness and product adoption.
  • Work collaboratively across Commercial, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations and Customer Success to support successful delivery.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR 🔍

Essential

  • Experience developing and managing complex strategic partnerships with banks, financial institutions or payment providers, including structuring and commercialising network partnership arrangements.
  • Experience collaborating with Product teams in Payments, Banking, Financial Market Infrastructure or FinTech, translating complex payment, operational and regulatory requirements into clear product direction.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with experience supporting business cases, partnership models or go-to-market propositions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working across senior banking, commercial, technical and operational audiences.

Desirable

  • Understanding of domestic and international payment ecosystems, including clearing, settlement, sponsor bank operating models, liquidity management and payment scheme participation.
  • Experience supporting market expansion, payment rail growth or sponsor bank propositions across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience developing reusable sponsor bank onboarding frameworks or market-entry playbooks.
  • Experience establishing KPIs or measuring the effectiveness and adoption of sponsor-bank-enabled capabilities.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
