Lead rotational revenue strategy and operations initiatives across segments and functions. Drive analytics-driven deep dives, own high-impact programs end-to-end, manage metrics and execution, partner cross-functionally (Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing), present recommendations to senior leaders, build durable frameworks and institutional knowledge, and adopt AI/automation to accelerate work.

The Director, Marketing Strategy & Operations is the CMO's business partner across strategy, operations, and budget/spend — translating ambiguous, cross-functional problems into a clear plan and driving it themselves, while holding their own in rooms with cross-functional leaders (including the CRO and GMs).

This role sits on the Revenue Strategy & Operations team (within the broader FinOps org) and sits on the CMO's leadership team. You'll lead a small team of analysts and own everything from day-to-day operating cadence to annual planning to the strategic bets that reshape how Marketing drives pipeline.

What you'll do:

  • Own high-priority strategic initiatives end-to-end — marketing ROI modeling, channel performance, funnel performance — from framing through recommendation through ongoing execution

  • Steward Marketing's full-lifecycle outcomes in cross-functional conversations with Sales, Post-Sales, Product, and Finance — representing the org's impact on pipeline and growth

  • Run the operating cadence — day-to-day metrics, program management, and the strategic pivots that come from a fast-moving business — surfacing risks and opportunities proactively and driving resolution

  • Drive annual and multi-year planning — priorities, resourcing, and goal setting for the Marketing org, translating strategy into a plan that balances ambition and achievability

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team — not just building durable processes, frameworks, and documentation, but also developing the analysts on your team and contributing to the broader Revenue Strategy & Operations team

  • Use AI to create leverage — adopt and experiment with automation tools, and redirect the time saved toward the judgment-heavy work: what to build, why it matters, and what the data actually means in context.

What you'll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience across high-growth tech and/or management consulting, including time in a team leadership role where you owned outcomes

  • A track record you can point to: specific initiatives you drove from ambiguous starting point to measurable business impact

  • Functional experience in operations, strategy, go-to-market, and/or growth within SaaS is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to ramp quickly in unfamiliar domains and form a point of view fast —you are flexible and quickly build credibility

  • Ability to distill complex, ambiguous problems into a concrete plan, and then drive execution of that plan yourself

  • Genuinely energized by variety and ambiguity

  • Excellence in cross-functional communication — you can explain a complex problem to a C-level leader and an analyst with equal clarity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
