Build and lead a founding engineering team to deliver the Find, Validate, and Patch roadmap for AI-powered vulnerability discovery, validation, and remediation. Hire and grow engineers across harness/platform engineering, security research, and evaluation; partner with security and platform leadership; communicate clear engineering status.

NVIDIA is widely recognized as one of the most sought-after employers, with some of the most dedicated people in the world working for us! We believe open-weight models are foundational to American AI leadership and cybersecurity and that trust in AI grows through participation, transparency, and broad scientific scrutiny—not a single point of control. Our AI Safety & Security Engineering team builds and evaluates AI-powered tooling that helps find, validate, and patch software vulnerabilities.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to build and lead this team from its very first engineers. You will hire across harness and platform engineering, security research, and evaluation and help these disciplines work as one group at a sustainable pace. You will own delivery of the Find, Validate, and Patch roadmap, make trade-offs visible rather than silent, and share progress in plain language. We value careful engineering over hype: results earn trust through internal review, not bold claims. When you apply, tell us about a team you built or a system you shipped—specific, checkable detail helps us see the person behind the resume.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Team building: Hire, coach, and grow the founding engineering team.

  • Delivery: Lead the Find, Validate, and Patch engineering roadmap.

  • Partnership: Collaborate with evaluation, security, and platform leadership.

  • Communication: Share clear, honest engineering status across NVIDIA.

What We Need To See:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with 12+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.

  • Leadership: Experience guiding teams that build complex systems - distributed infrastructure, ML platforms, or security tooling.

  • Technical depth: Ability to weigh architecture and evaluation trade-offs in ML or systems software.

  • Ambiguity: Steadiness in a young program, where much is still yours to define.

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd:
  • Security background: Exposure to vulnerability research or security programs.

  • ML systems: Experience with teams building ML infrastructure or agents.

  • Founding experience: Growing new teams from their earliest stage.

With competitive salaries and a generous benefits package, NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology industry's most desirable employers. We have some of the most forward-thinking and versatile people in the world working with us, and our engineering teams are growing fast in some of the most impactful fields of our generation: Confidential Computing and Data. If you're a creative engineer who enjoys autonomy and shares our passion for technology, we want to hear from you.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 272,000 USD - 431,250 USD.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Applications for this job will be accepted at least until July 30, 2026.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.

NVIDIA is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer. As we highly value diversity in our current and future employees, we do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any other characteristic protected by law.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
