What You’ll Do

CoreWeave operates at the forefront of artificial intelligence, supporting some of the world’s most demanding computing environments. Protecting our people, intellectual property, infrastructure, and reputation requires more than sophisticated security technology. It requires exceptional investigative capabilities. As a Senior Insider Threat Investigator, you will lead complex, sensitive investigations involving potential insider threats, intellectual property theft, unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information, and other activities that could compromise CoreWeave’s operations or interests. You will apply professional investigative methodologies, counterintelligence principles, behavioral analysis, and sound judgment to identify, assess, investigate, and help mitigate insider risks. Unlike traditional cybersecurity engineering roles, this position emphasizes the human, behavioral, and investigative dimensions of insider threats. You will work alongside experienced security engineers, detection specialists, and digital forensic professionals, combining their technical capabilities with your investigative expertise to develop comprehensive, evidence-based assessments.

This is an opportunity to help build a world-class enterprise Insider Risk Program at one of the fastest-growing companies in the AI industry.

On this team, you will:

  • Lead sensitive, complex insider threat investigations involving employees, contractors, and other individuals with authorized access to CoreWeave resources.
  • Investigate suspected intellectual property theft, unauthorized disclosures, conflicts of interest, policy violations, and potential relationships with external threat actors.
  • Apply investigative interviewing, intelligence analysis, behavioral assessment, and evidence-development techniques to establish facts, assess risk, and determine appropriate investigative next steps.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Complex Investigations & Case Management

  • Independently plan, conduct, and manage complex insider threat investigations from intake through resolution, including strategy development, witness interviews, and evidence evaluation.
  • Maintain detailed case documentation and produce clear investigative reports and executive briefings detailing risk assessments and actionable mitigation recommendations.

Counterintelligence & Behavioral Threat Assessment

  • Apply counterintelligence and behavioral methodologies to identify, assess, and mitigate insider risks—including IP theft, espionage, unauthorized disclosure, and external threat actor collaboration.
  • Conduct lawful OSINT research, background inquiries, and joint intelligence analysis to transform threat trends into actionable investigative leads and mitigation strategies.

Investigative Operations & Evidence Management

  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to identify, collect, preserve, and analyze electronic evidence while supporting litigation, regulatory inquiries, and law enforcement referrals.
  • Synthesize digital evidence, witness statements, and records into comprehensive case assessments while adhering to strict privacy, legal, and confidentiality standards.

Program Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop standard operating procedures, workflows, and protocols for insider threat investigations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify risk patterns, strengthen controls, and mature the Insider Risk Program.

Investing in our people is one of our top priorities, and we value candidates who can bring their diversified experiences to our teams. Here are some qualities we’ve found compatible with our team. We'd love to talk about whether this aligns with your experience and interests and what you’re excited to work on next.

Who You are

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive professional investigative experience in federal law enforcement, counterintelligence, corporate investigations, military criminal investigations, or intelligence operations.
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading complex, sensitive investigations involving insider threats, intellectual property theft, espionage, or other serious security concerns.
  • Advanced proficiency in investigative planning, interviewing, evidence evaluation, investigative documentation, case management, and producing defensible findings.
  • Proven ability to assess potential insider threats using behavioral indicators, contextual information, and investigative intelligence.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with legal, HR, security personnel, and executive leadership during sensitive investigations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed investigative reports and brief senior executives.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information, managing competing priorities, and operating in ambiguous or high-pressure situations alongside technical specialists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior service as a federal criminal investigator (1811), federal counterintelligence agent, military criminal investigator, or equivalent investigative professional.
  • Demonstrated track record of investigating insider threats, economic espionage, intellectual property theft, trade secret misappropriation, or threats involving foreign intelligence services.
  • Experience transitioning investigative methodologies from government or law enforcement environments into private-sector corporate security programs, particularly within cloud computing, AI, critical infrastructure, or sensitive R&D.
  • Familiarity with digital forensic evidence, technical investigative tools (DLP, SIEM, UEBA, endpoint security), international investigative considerations, employee privacy requirements, and cross-border investigations.
  • Professional certifications/specialized training in criminal investigations, counterintelligence, intelligence analysis, or behavioral threat assessment, paired with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
