Our team is fast-moving, data-driven, and relentlessly focused on growth. We thrive on experimentation, collaboration, and precise execution across every channel that fuels our brand.

We’re building the next evolution of Freebird.com and looking for a systems-minded e-commerce leader to architect a compliant, scalable, high-performing global platform that supports the next decade of our growth.

The Mission

As the Senior Director of E-commerce, you will transform Freebird.com into a world-class DTC platform that is stable, compliant, reliable, and beautifully designed. You will build the systems, processes, and governance that ensure our site is technically sound, conversion-optimized, and ready for international expansion.

You will partner closely with Growth, Creative, Operations, Product, and Development teams to enforce UX standards, ensure executional excellence, and maintain data and compliance integrity across the entire site experience.

What You'll Do

Standardize the Website Experience

• Shift the site from a patchwork of direct response funnels to a clear, consistent, best-in-class ecommerce structure
• Build unified product detail pages, collection pages, subscription pathways, and an intuitive site hierarchy
• Seamlessly incorporate bundles, upsells, educational content, brand storytelling, and guided shopping tools (e.g., quizzes)

Executional Rigor and Project Delivery

• Ensure BAU tasks and OKR-driven initiatives are delivered on time and at quality
• Maintain reliable communication, reporting, and visibility for the executive team

Compliance, QA, and Data Integrity

• Build a culture of meticulous QA, documentation, and compliance-first execution
• Ensure data accuracy, CRO test validity, and analytics reliability across the site

Subscription Compliance Ownership

• Update subscription flows to align with clear, intuitive, customer-first design standards.
• Build ongoing governance and monitoring to keep subscription logic, renewal rules, and disclosures consistent with industry standards and best practices.

International Launch Architecture and Compliance

• Build localized frameworks for tax, currency, fulfillment, and subscription compliance
• Partner with Ops and Product to ensure technical readiness for global expansion

Promotions and Peak-Moment Merchandising

• Own planning and execution for key seasonal and promotional events such as Father’s Day and BFCM
• Create a repeatable promo calendar and cross-functional workflow aligning Paid, Retention, and Creative

Requirements

Experience

• 5 to 10 years in DTC e-commerce with hands-on Shopify or Shopify Plus leadership
• 2+ years owning entire site experience including architecture, UX, CRO, or site operations
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across UX, CRO, and Development
• Strong background in QA standards, compliance, testing frameworks, and design governance
• Experience in mid-sized DTC brands with $50M to $200M revenue preferred

Competencies and Working Style

• Architectural thinker who builds scalable systems before optimizing
• Exceptionally organized with strong operational discipline
• Collaborative leader who aligns Growth, Creative, Ops, and Dev
• High design and UX judgment with a premium brand aesthetic
• Technically literate enough to guide and QA development
• Data-driven decision maker who requires statistical rigor
• Mature operator with integrity, professionalism, and a quality-first mindset
• No side-hustle mentality and no conflicts of interest

Benefits

• Competitive compensation package

• Health, dental, and vision benefits

• Unlimited PTO and a remote-friendly culture

• Meaningful ownership of a mission-critical function at a fast-growing DTC brand

• High-trust, low-ego team that values clarity, professionalism, and executional excellence

• Opportunity to build the systems and architecture that power Freebird’s next phase of growth

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
